About the Role 

Orion Pharma is making strategic investments in challenging R&D areas where our expertise can drive breakthroughs-particularly in cancer therapies. As part of this commitment, we are enhancing our oncology research capabilities by establishing dedicated Target Discovery teams within each of our oncology research units: Immuno-Oncology, Antibody Drug Conjugates (ADC), and Cancer Genomics. 

We are looking for a motivated and skilled Senior Scientist to join Antibody-Drug Conjugates (ADC) Target Discovery Team. The ideal candidate has strong experience in preclinical cancer research and a solid background in cell and molecular cancer biology, with exposure to bioinformatics. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Design and execute strategies for identifying novel ADC targets using data-driven and lab-based approaches. 
  • Run ADC targets validation 
  • Conduct and/or coordinate experiments to assess ADC potency and safety. 
  • Provide expert guidance in cancer biology to project teams. 
  • Collaborate with internal teams (bioinformatics, chemistry, biology, pharmacology, clinical) to solve scientific challenges. 
  • Propose and manage research activities with strategic partners, CROs, and academic collaborators. 
  • Maintain detailed lab records and documentation. 
  • Analyse experimental data and present findings in meetings. 

You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to discover and validate novel cancer targets and help develop first- or best-in-class ADCs from concept to clinical candidate. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge cancer therapies that can make a real difference for patients. 

You will be located in Turku, Finland, and will report to the ADC Target Discovery Lead. This is a full-time, permanent and on-site position. Orion Pharma will support relocation to Finland.

Our expectations 

Essential competences, education and way of working : 

  • MS, or PhD in Biological Sciences, Biochemistry or closely related field with typically 10+ (MS) or 4+ (PhD) years of postdoc or industry related experience. 
  • Strong understanding and experience of cancer biology, cell and molecular biology, and biochemistry. 
  • Practical experience with bioinformatics and omics data (transcriptomics, proteomics, spatial data) and analysis (e.g. online tools, R or Python). 
  • Hands-on experience with lab techniques: cell surface proteins labelling and analysis, flow cytometry, microscopy, cytotoxicity assays, qPCR, western blotting, and ELISA. 
  • Experience with 2D and 3D cell culture models. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and lead research activities. 
  • Strong interest in adopting new technologies and methods. 
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.

The Hemato-oncology Research Group (HemoRES) at Faculty of Medicine and Health Technologyis looking for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow specializing in translational leukemia research. The research group works under the Tampere Center for Child, Adolescent and Maternal Health Research (TamCAM). The position is full-time and will be filled for a fixed-term period of three years.

The Hemato-oncology research group studies the molecular mechanisms underlying childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), aiming to develop novel, mechanism-based targeted therapies. Our approach combines a variety of genomic and molecular analyses, drug screening, patient samples, and disease modeling using both cellular and animal systems, including zebrafish.

The Faculty of Medicine and Health Technology (MET) is committed to high quality research and education in the fields of biomedical engineering, biotechnology, medicine, and health technology. We conduct basic, applied, clinical, and translational research in collaboration with Tampere University Hospital (TAYS). Job description

We are looking for a talented and motivated postdoctoral researcher to join a project led by Prof. Olli Lohi. The project, funded by the Jane & Aatos Erkko Foundation, focuses on developing targeted therapies for T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL). Our research aims to identify novel and effective combination treatments for T-ALL, enhance immunotherapies, and investigate the mechanisms of drug resistance. The work involves the use of cell lines, patient samples, zebrafish models, and a variety of cellular, molecular, and genome-wide assays.

Requirements

We are seeking a versatile and independent researcher with experience and a proven track record-such as published work or a thesis-in a wide range of cellular and molecular biology techniques, including cell culture, drug testing, CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing, and data analysis (e.g., NGS data, R software). Prior experience with leukemia research or zebrafish experimentation would be appreciated.

  • Applicable doctoral degree in the field, e.g. Molecular and Cellular Biology, Immunology, Cancer Biology, or Genomics
  • High motivation and a strong research orientation
  • The ability to work independently, and stay current with relevant literature
  • Strong interpersonal and networking skills, along with a willingness to mentor junior researchers 
  • Fluency in spoken and written English.

The position will be filled for a fixed-term period of three years, starting on 1 January 2025 or as mutually agreed. A trial period of six months applies to all our new employees.

The salary will be based on both the job requirements and the employee’s personal performance in accordance with the Finnish University Salary System. The position of a Postdoctoral Researcher is placed on the job demands levels 5-6 (teaching and research staff). A typical starting salary of Postdoctoral Researcher is around 3500-3800 EUR/month.
