About the Role
Orion Pharma is making strategic investments in challenging R&D areas where our expertise can drive breakthroughs-particularly in cancer therapies. As part of this commitment, we are enhancing our oncology research capabilities by establishing dedicated Target Discovery teams within each of our oncology research units: Immuno-Oncology, Antibody Drug Conjugates (ADC), and Cancer Genomics.
We are looking for a motivated and skilled Senior Scientist to join Antibody-Drug Conjugates (ADC) Target Discovery Team. The ideal candidate has strong experience in preclinical cancer research and a solid background in cell and molecular cancer biology, with exposure to bioinformatics.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute strategies for identifying novel ADC targets using data-driven and lab-based approaches.
- Run ADC targets validation
- Conduct and/or coordinate experiments to assess ADC potency and safety.
- Provide expert guidance in cancer biology to project teams.
- Collaborate with internal teams (bioinformatics, chemistry, biology, pharmacology, clinical) to solve scientific challenges.
- Propose and manage research activities with strategic partners, CROs, and academic collaborators.
- Maintain detailed lab records and documentation.
- Analyse experimental data and present findings in meetings.
You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to discover and validate novel cancer targets and help develop first- or best-in-class ADCs from concept to clinical candidate. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge cancer therapies that can make a real difference for patients.
You will be located in Turku, Finland, and will report to the ADC Target Discovery Lead. This is a full-time, permanent and on-site position. Orion Pharma will support relocation to Finland.

Our expectations
Essential competences, education and way of working :
- MS, or PhD in Biological Sciences, Biochemistry or closely related field with typically 10+ (MS) or 4+ (PhD) years of postdoc or industry related experience.
- Strong understanding and experience of cancer biology, cell and molecular biology, and biochemistry.
- Practical experience with bioinformatics and omics data (transcriptomics, proteomics, spatial data) and analysis (e.g. online tools, R or Python).
- Hands-on experience with lab techniques: cell surface proteins labelling and analysis, flow cytometry, microscopy, cytotoxicity assays, qPCR, western blotting, and ELISA.
- Experience with 2D and 3D cell culture models.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and lead research activities.
- Strong interest in adopting new technologies and methods.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities
In support of our In Vivo Pharmacology teams, develop and execute laboratory work, plans/schedules independently following division/site performance standards and metrics. Techniques may include any or all of the following:

- Author technical documents, such as study protocols, study reports, and operating procedures

Qualifications

Orion is seeking a Molecular Modelling Mage (an experienced Senior Scientist) to further develop our capabilities and push the boundaries of theoretical drug discovery research carried out in Computational Medicine Design (CMD) unit.
Description of position
The Molecular Modelling Mage will work in the drug discovery projects linking and interfacing with biology and chemistry with both ab initio and data-driven perspectives. For this, it is critical to constantly rediscover the best suitable strategy for each project and define how to increase the target understanding and how to navigate the path of multiparameter optimization in modality design. For example, approaches can be both ligand- and structure-based virtual screening and design, protein modelling, physics-based simulations, structure-activity data analysis, machine learning and utilization of variety of in-house and public data sources. The Molecular Modelling Mage will collaborate closely with a broad range of scientists including other modellers in the CMD unit, medicinal chemists, pharmacologists and biologists.
The position is full-time and you will be based in Espoo or Turku, Finland.

Requirements
To be a successful Molecular Modelling Mage, you should have the following educational and professional work experiences:
- Ph.D. from a suitable field, e.g. computational chemistry, bioorganic chemistry, biophysics, computer science or biochemistry
- Concrete post-doctoral or industrial experience (above five years)
- Broad experience in computational drug design, mastery of state-of-the-art ligand- and structure-based methods and their applications for medicine design
- Solid understanding of fields relevant in the discovery process (e.g. medicinal chemistry, pharmacology, biochemistry, cell biology, structural biology, biophysics)
In addition, in depth experience in at least one of the following aspects:
- Application of large-scale modern data science, machine learning and cheminformatics for drug discovery
- Large-scale molecular dynamics simulations (e.g., relative and absolute free energy methods) for protein-ligand complexes
- Track record of progressing modalities from hit identification through lead to clinical candidate
Experience with commercial molecular modelling software platforms, data pipelining tools (e.g. Knime) and programming/scripting/data analysis/data visualization (e.g. Python) is desirable.
We expect from all scientists the ability to work both independently and in multidisciplinary teams consisting of in-house scientists and external collaborators. A demonstrated record of research productivity and excellent oral and written communication skills in English are expected.
