Turku Medical Bioinformatics Centre (https://elolab.utu.fi) at Turku Bioscience Centre is looking for a postdoctoral or doctoral researcher for projects that identifies molecular factors and their regulatory networks involved in human diseases. Using large-scale omics datasets and computational methods, the project studies, how the human immune system functions and how this understanding could be utilized in developing new treatments for immune-mediated diseases and cancer. The research employs statistical and machine learning methods as well as bioinformatics tools. The project is carried out in close collaboration with biomedical research teams.
Job description
The tasks include both the analysis of omics data (e.g. single-cell profiling, proteomics) and the testing and further development of data analysis methods. The focus can be tailored according to the expertise and interests of the applicant. Additionally, the position involves collaboration with multidisciplinary research teams and following the rapidly developing latest methods in the field.

Who we are looking for

The salary is determined by the collective agreement system of Finnish universities, aligning with the research personnel category. The demand level of the postdoctoral researcher position is 5 and the doctoral researcher position 2 – 3. In addition, a salary component based on personal performance is paid. The average monthly salary, depending on previous experience and skills, is around 3450 – 3800 euros per month for postdoctoral researcher and around 2400 – 2900 euros per month for doctoral researcher/project researcher at the beginning of the employment.For a research assistant the salary will be 2200 – 2300 euros per month.
The position is subject to a six (6) month trial period.

Description Of Unit
The unit “Structural Biology and Analytics” is a part of the Medicine Design in Innovative Medicines Business Division. Besides the analytical support for all medicinal chemistry activities, the unit focuses on hit finding activities, the understanding of protein modes of action and protein ligand interactions. On site, MS as well as NMR techniques are used to obtain the necessary information. Other techniques like cryoEM or X-ray are used via a strong external network.

Practical skills with protein-related MS techniques, especially native MS, HDX-MS or cross-linking techniques, are mandatory to support our activities in the characterisation of protein-ligand interactions and to analyse conformational changes of proteins. The candidate’s special focus will be execution of experiments and data analysis as well as communicating the results to the project team.
The candidate needs to have a good knowledge of protein handling (production beneficial) and must be able to discuss in multidisciplinary project teams the results and the impact of the results on drug design. A basic understanding of biophysical methods is beneficial. A good network with the protein MS community around the world is a big plus.

Desentum is a small biotech company developing innovative allergen immunotherapies for respiratory and food allergies. Our first product candidate is in clinical development and more candidates are getting close to the clinical stage. The company is mainly operating using external vendors and most of the clinical activities are outsourced.
We are looking for an enthusiastic Clinical Trial Manager (CTM) to join our team as a colleague for our Head of Clinical Operations.
Main responsibilities:
Implementing and managing new and ongoing clinical trials conducted by CROs
Coordinating and overseeing day-to-day clinical activities and driving study timelines
Monitoring study progress to ensure compliance with and adherence to the study plan and to identify, evaluate and rectify problems.
Creating and overseeing the trial budget
Managing clinical study teams
Coordination and supervision of clinical trial monitoring activities
Preparing and reviewing protocols, case forms and clinical study reports, and finalizing monitoring and data management options
Coordinating applications and possible amendments to ethical and regulatory bodies
Shipment of materials for clinical trials
Leading the creation and maintenance of all study files, including Trial Master File, and oversight of these files

Haemme erikoistutkijaa Ruokaviraston Eläinterveystutkimuksen yksikköön, tuotanto- ja seuraeläinpatologian jaostoon Kuopion laboratorioon vakituiseen virkasuhteeseen.
Erikoistutkijan tehtävään kuuluu märehtijäsairauksien patologisanatominen tautidiagnostiikka ja siihen liittyvät asiantuntijatehtävät sekä oman vastuualueen tieteellinen tutkimus. Työhön kuuluu päivittäinen eläinten raadonavaustoiminta, histologisten leikkeiden tarkastelu sekä tutkimusvastausten laadinta asiakkaille. Työhön voi sisältyä myös kalatautien diagnostiikkaa. Erikoistutkija toimii yhteistyössä märehtijöiden terveyden prosessin ja eri paikkakunnilla työskentelevien asiantuntijoiden kanssa. Veripalvelun tutkimus- ja kehitysyksikössä toteutetaan kansallisia ja kansainvälisiä tiedetutkimushankkeita. Tutkimuksen tarkoituksena on varmistaa, että toimintamme pohjautuu vertaisarvioituun tutkimusnäyttöön ja kehittyy alan uusimman tiedon mukaisesti.
Tutkimushankkeet keskittyvät pääasiassa veri- ja soluvalmisteisiin sekä verihuoltoketjun vaikuttavuuteen. Tutkimusta tehdään tiiviissä yhteistyössä Veripalvelun solutuotantokeskuksen ja biopankin kanssa. Vuonna 2023 julkaisimme 32 vertaisarvioitua tiedejulkaisua.
Sijaitsemme Biomedicumissa, Helsingin Meilahdessa. Meillä työskentelee noin 26 tutkimuksen ammattilaista. Vuotuinen tutkimus- ja kehitysbudjettimme on noin 4 miljoonaa euroa, josta puolet katetaan ulkoisella tutkimusrahoituksella.
Tehtäväsi:
Vastaat tutkimustoiminnan suunnittelusta, kehittämisestä ja budjetoinnista Veripalvelun strategian ja linjausten mukaisesti
Vastaat tutkimusyksikön operatiivisesta toiminnasta ja sen jatkuvuudesta hyödyntäen myös ulkoisia tutkimusrahoitusmahdollisuuksia
Ohjaat tutkimushankkeiden toteutumista ja vastaat niiden raportoinnista
Vastaat osaltasi tutkimusyksikön hankinnoista ja sopimuksista
Toimit lähiesihenkilönä tutkimus- ja kehitysyksikön tutkijoille
Tehtävä on kokoaikainen, mutta on sovitettavissa osa-aikaiseksi. Raportoit tehtävässäsi Veripalvelun johtoryhmään kuuluvalle vastuualueen johtajalle.
Odotamme:
Sinulla on tehtävään soveltuva tohtoritason tutkinto sekä vahvaa näyttöä tutkimuskokonaisuuksien tuloksellisesta johtamisesta, esihenkilötyöstä ja kansainvälisestä yhteistyöstä. Arvostamme perehtyneisyyttä soluterapiaan, solubiologiaan tai verensiirtolääketieteeseen sekä dosentin oppiarvoa ja/tai lääketieteellistä koulutusta. Sinulla on kokemusta väitöskirjaan tähtäävän tutkimuksen ohjaamisesta ja onnistuneesta tutkimusrahoituksen hankkimisesta.
Työtehtävässä onnistuminen vaatii tunteenpaloa tutkimuksen tekemiseen, biolääketieteellisen tutkimuksen jatkuvaa seuraamista sekä kykyä hahmottaa uusia tieteellisiä avauksia ja teknologian tuomia mahdollisuuksia. Lisäksi työssä edellytetään hyviä esiintymis- ja vuorovaikutustaitoja, sekä suomen ja englannin kielen taitoa.

We are now looking for an experienced Senior Bioprocess Engineer/Scientist to join our R&D team
In this position, you will play an essential role in supporting and leading development projects within R&D and contribute towards our greater goal of providing animal-free egg protein ingredients to the world. We aim to play a significant role in building the sustainable food system with the help of our partners throughout the world. Towards this goal our team utilizes microbial production systems for expressing egg white proteins using filamentous fungi.
Your responsibilities as Senior Bioprocess Engineer/Scientist:
Bioprocess project work with filamentous fungi, mainly focusing on upstream process development and optimization
Use your expertise in bioprocess technologies for microbial production of egg white proteins to identify and evaluate the new methods and tools to enhance research capabilities and improve process efficiency
Collaboration with the protein, food, and manufacturing teams to ensure successful process and product development and manufacturing of Bioalbumen®
Comprehensive and timely documentation of development activities in electronic lab notebooks and relevant databases and analysis of the process data
Work to scale up bioprocesses from lab to pilot and to industrial scale
Technology transfer projects of upstream processes to contract manufacturing sites
Who we are looking for:
Someone with a degree in biotechnology and bioprocess/chemical engineering or similar field
Several years working and hands-on experience in microbial fermentations and process development with high working standards
Good scientific reporting skills
Good written and spoken English skills
It would be advantageous if you have:
Experience working with microorganisms such as filamentous fungi
Experience in scaling up from lab scale to pilot scale or doing technology transfer projects
Experience about bioprocess data handling and utilization, previous experience with BioPAT MFCS, JMP is an advantage
Previous experience from fermentation industry
