About the job
The postdoctoral researcher will join a multidisciplinary research group with expertise in genetic epidemiology, biostatistics, gerontology, clinical medicine, and life‑course health research. Our team investigates the biological (genetics and other omics) determinants of aging, with a particular focus on healthspan, frailty, and age‑related multimorbidity.
In this position, you will work with large-scale genomic, biomarker, and nationwide register data from Finland and other Nordic countries to uncover genetic and molecular mechanisms that shape aging trajectories. The project aims to analyze omics data (e.g., genomics, epigenomics, metabolomics, and proteomics) with Mendelian randomization and machine learning methods with longitudinal health and healthcare information to identify pathways influencing vulnerability, resilience, and health decline across the life course.

Job description
Your responsibility is the following: to implement and conduct a clinical exercise trial and conduct O-15 O2 and O-15 H2O measurements for brown fat and skeletal muscle perfusion and oxygen consumption (if available) using PET-CT imaging. Other measurements, including OGTT, fitness tests, continuous glucose monitoring, energy expenditure, etc., will be included. Other responsibilities include data analysis and reporting, scientific publishing, participation in supervision and research group activities, grant applications as well as national and international collaboration.
Who we are looking for
The candidate should hold a PhD degree. We are seeking a candidate with a strong background in Exercise Physiology and prior experience conducting clinical exercise trials. Experience with imaging methods -particularly PET-CT and MRI- is required.
The position involves designing, conducting, and analysing measurements using a PET/CT system. Candidates should preferably be able to demonstrate previous expertise in these areas, for example through relevant publications.
In addition, the role will involve working with omics data derived from skeletal muscle and adipose tissue. Experience in this field, particularly when combined with PET-CT image analysis, will be highly valued. Knowledge and experience related to obesity physiology are also considered an advantage.

Åbo Akademi University invites applications for a fixed-term position as Research Technician for the period 1.9.2026-31.12.2028. The position is located in the Cell Fate Lab, led by Professor Cecilia Sahlgren at the Biochemistry and Cell Biology unit, Faculty of Science and Engineering in Turku, Finland. The employment is full-time.
WORK TASKS As a Research Technician, you will support the everyday work of the Cell Fate Lab members (approx. 15 researchers and students), manage the infrastructure of the laboratory used also by collaborating researchers, and assist with scientific experimentation.
Prepare routine reagents (buffers, media, and standard solutions); aliquot and label.
Prepare DNA reagents: bacterial work as needed, plasmid preparation and sequencing.
Manage chemicals and safety: chemical inventory/SDS, correct storage/labelling, waste handling.
Perform and support cell culture (passaging, freezing/thawing, mycoplasma monitoring, sterile technique).
Support viral work as needed (e.g., lentiviral production/handling).

Salary and trial period
The salary is determined in accordance with the university salary system for other personnel / teaching and research personnel. The job requirement level of the position is MV08-MV09. In addition, a salary component based on personal work performance is paid. Salary, based on previous experience and skills, is approximately 3100 – 3600 euros/month at the beginning of the assignment.
The start of the employment is negotiable, preferably by May 2026. The position is fixed-term for two years, with a possibility for extension depending on the funding decisions. The position is subject to a six-month trial period.

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Assistant with mass spectrometry experience to join the Antibody-Drug Conjugates (ADC) Team. This is a hands-on laboratory role ideal for someone who enjoys experimental work and thrives in a collaborative research environment. You will be part of a dynamic, international team working in modern facilities equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentation.
Orion Pharma is making strategic investments in challenging R&D areas where our expertise can drive breakthroughs-particularly in cancer therapies. As part of this commitment, we are enhancing our oncology research capabilities in proteomics and target discovery.
This is fixed-term on-site position for two years. The candidate would ideally start working in August 2026.
Key Responsibilities
Support research activities by performing sample preparation for proteomics analysis, in vitro cell-based assays, biochemical assays, and molecular biology techniques including flow cytometry (FACS), immunofluorescence staining and cell imaging, Western blotting (WB), quantitative PCR (qPCR), and antibody labelling.
Support discovery and verification of novel proteoforms.
Independently maintain and conduct experiments using mammalian cell cultures.
Assess the potency of antibody-drug conjugates and free payloads.
Evaluate antibody binding, surface protein density, and internalization in vitro.
Accurately document experimental procedures and results using electronic lab notebooks.
Ensure high standards of laboratory housekeeping and contribute to routine maintenance of lab and cell culture facilities.
The role is based in Turku, Finland, and will report to the ADC Target Discovery Lead.

Exposure to: Cell-surface or membrane protein enrichment, glycoproteomics and/or phosphoproteomics
Hands-on experience in laboratory techniques related to cellular and biochemical assays, and standard molecular biology methods (e.g., FACS, WB, qPCR, IF).
Strong expertise in mammalian cell culture and related functional assays.
A relevant degree in health sciences or biotechnology, such as from the University of Applied Sciences.
Proficiency in basic computational tools and experience with electronic lab notebooks.
Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Prior industry experience is an asset but not required.

We are seeking a Patent Counsel to help build and manage robust patent portfolios for Orion Corporation’s expanding pipeline in the pharmaceuticals industry. The ideal candidate brings deep knowledge of chemistry or biotechnology and experience in (bio)pharmaceutical R&D. Your key responsibilities
Identify and draft patent applications on pharmaceutical inventions in close interaction with inventors
Prosecute and defend patents in opposition proceedings in all major jurisdictions.
Manage patent portfolios in a time- and cost-efficient manner
Conduct freedom-to-operate (FTO) risk assessments and landscape evaluations for both innovative portfolio as well as our generic portfolio development purposes and monitor patent filing activities of competitors
Advise R&D and broader in house stakeholders on patenting strategy, FTO and risk mitigation
Provide expert patent opinions and evaluations to stakeholders and senior leadership, particularly in the context of external asset evaluations and strategic decision-making
Contribute to the further development of the IPR processes in the Company
You will work closely with R&D and business teams and coordinate with external IP partners to execute our tasks according to the strategy. Your expertise will play an important role in shaping and implementing decisions that support Orion’s innovation pipeline and business goals. The responsibily area of the role will be defined in alignment with your skills and capabilities.
This is a full-time and permanent position located in Espoo, and we also support hybrid working model. This position reports to Director Intellectual Property Rights.

Our expectations
Diploma or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Pharma, or (Molecular) Biology
Hands on experience with biopharmaceutical technologies and/or drug discovery and development
European Patent Attorney qualification (part/full) is considered as an advantage
Several years’ proven experience in pharmaceutical patenting (at least in EU and US), gained in-house or private practice
Strong analytical mindset and attention to details. You have proven ability to plan, organize, and prioritize multiple tasks efficiently
Highly motivated, collaborative working style with excellent communication skills (English being the main working language)
