We are now hiring a Research Infrastructure focused laboratory engineer. The work includes laboratory work related to maintenance and customer-related protocol development, as well as basic protein production, and protein interaction analysis services. The duties also include education of the potential users about the available TuProtCore services and other customer service tasks as well as some administrative tasks. We are therefore looking for a person with solid background on protein chemistry and/or protein analysis technologies, but also a customer-oriented attitude to serve the customer base and to develop the services. Key Responsibilities
Support research activities by performing sample preparation for proteomics analysis, in vitro cell-based assays, biochemical assays, and molecular biology techniques including flow cytometry (FACS), immunofluorescence staining and cell imaging, Western blotting (WB), quantitative PCR (qPCR), and antibody labelling.
Support discovery and verification of novel proteoforms.

Turun yliopiston Matemaattis-luonnontieteellisen tiedekunnan Biologian laitoksella on haettavana 1,5-vuotinen projektitutkijan tehtävä. Työsuhde alkaa 2.3.2026 tai sopimuksen mukaan.
Turun yliopiston puutiaistutkimusryhmässä (Puutiaiset ja niiden levittämät taudit Suomessa | Puutiaistutkimus) on tutkittu jo lähes viidentoista vuoden ajan kansanterveydellisesti merkittävien puutiaislajien ja taudinaiheuttajien biologiaa. Tutkimusryhmä toteutti vuonna 2015 valtakunnanlaajuisen kansalaiskeräyksen, jonka aikana ihmiset lähettivät noin 20 000 puutiaista yliopistolle tutkittavaksi. Tutkimuksen myötä saimme ensimmäistä kertaa tarkan käsityksen eri puutiaislajien ja taudinaiheuttajien esiintymisestä Suomessa. Vastaava keräys ollaan toistamassa Koneen Säätiön rahoituksella vuoden 2026 aikana. Palkattavan tutkijan työtehtävät keskittyvät pitkälti tämän kansalaiskeräyshankkeen ympärille.
Tehtävänkuvaus
Palkattava tutkija tulee ottamaan tutkimusryhmän väitöskirjatutkijan kanssa vetovastuun kansalaiskeräyksen puutiaisnäytteiden vastaanottamisesta, kirjaamisesta ja käsittelystä. Lisäksi hän tulee vetämään kansalaiskeräykseen liittyviä laboratoriotöitä. Kansalaiskeräyksen ohella tutkijan odotetaan osallistuvan myös tutkimusryhmän muihin työtehtäviin, kuten puutiaiskasvatusten ylläpitoon, maastotöihin ja opinnäytetöiden käytännön ohjaamiseen laboratoriossa. Muut työtehtävät saattavat sisältää koe-eläinten kanssa työskentelyä.
Etsimämme henkilö
Haemme tehtävään runsaasti kokemusta laboratoriotyöskentelystä omaavaa henkilöä, joka kykenee ottamaan vetovastuun kansalaiskeräykseen liittyvistä laboratoriotöistä (DNA ja RNA eristykset ja taudinaiheuttaja-analyysit) sekä tukemaan ja ohjaamaan väitöskirjatutkijan ja opinnäytetöiden tekijöiden työskentelyä laboratoriossa. Tutkimusryhmämme laboratoriotyöt ovat varsin monipuolisia ja vaihtelevia, joten hakijalta toivotaan lisäksi laajaa kokemusta erilaisista laboratoriomenetelmistä osoituksena kyvystä opetella ja omaksua uusia tutkimusmenetelmiä. Muihin työtehtäviin saattaa liittyä koe-eläinten (hiiret) kanssa työskentelyä, joten suoritettu koe-eläinkurssi ja kokemus koe-eläinten kanssa työskentelystä katsotaan eduksi. We are looking for a talented and motivated postdoctoral researcher to join a project led by Prof. Olli Lohi. Teknillisen tiedekunnan Bioteknologian laitoksessa on haettavana molekulaarisen biotekniikan ja diagnostiikan yliopisto-opettajan työsopimussuhteinen määräaikainen tehtävä ajalle 1.1.2026 – 31.3.2029. Määräaikaisuuden peruste on sijaisuus.
Tehtävänkuvaus
Yliopisto-opettajan tehtävä sijoittuu laitoksen biotekniikan yksikköön ja sen keskeisimmät opetusvastuut liittyvät molekyylibiotieteet tutkinto-ohjelman molekulaarinen biotekniikka ja diagnostiikka -linjan opetukseen. Yliopisto-opettajan tehtävään kuuluu vastuu linjan harjoitustöiden suunnittelusta ja toteutuksesta ja sekä muita pääosin aine- ja syventäviin opintoihin liittyviä opetustehtäviä. Lisäksi tehtävään sisältyy opinnäytetöiden ohjausta, opinnäytetöiden ja työselostusten tarkastamista ja utugradu-prosessin hoitamista lopputöitä palauttaville opiskelijoille sekä tutkimus- ja hallintotyötä ja vastuuta tutkinto-ohjelmien kehittämisestä. Opetusvastuuseen kuuluvat mm. kurssit: MBID0019 Lab Exercises for Master’s Thesis in Molecular Biotechnology and Diagnostics, 10 op, ja MBID0035 Scientific Reporting, 5 op.
Etsimämme henkilö
Tehtävään otettavalta henkilöltä edellytetään aikaisempaa perehtyneisyyttä molekulaarisen biotekniikan ja in vitro -diagnostiikan sovellusalueeseen, erityisesti seuraaviin osaamisalueisiin: rekombinanttisitojaproteiinien ja -vasta-aineiden kehitys ja tuotto molekyylibiologisin menetelmin sekä näiden molekyylien diagnostiset ja muut biotekniset sovellukset. Tehtävää täytettäessä eduksi katsotaan tietoteknisiin menetelmiin ja tehosekvensointitekniikoihin perustuva osaaminen proteiinimuokkauksessa. Eduksi katsotaan myös alan aikaisempi julkaisu- ja tutkimustoiminta ja/tai jatko-opintojen suorittaminen tehtäväalalla sekä työkokemus alan teollisuudesta ja/tai tutkimusyhteistyö teollisuuden kanssa. Hyvä suomen ja englannin kielen taito on tehtävässä välttämätön. Valittavan henkilön edellytetään osallistuvan aktiivisesti alan tutkimukseen ja omaavan valmiudet hankkia omaa tutkimusrahoitusta.
Hakijan ansioita arvioitaessa keskeinen kriteeri on käytännön perehtyneisyys tehtäväalaan opetustehtävien kannalta ja valmius aloittaa tehtävässä 1.1.2026. Arvioitaessa huomioidaan myös aikaisempi julkaisu- ja tutkimustoiminta ja näkemys tutkimuksen suuntaamisesta tehtävässä tai väitöskirjatutkimuksessa proteiinimuokkauksen menetelmiin tai sovelluksiin, erityisesti tekninen asiantuntemus, valmius ohjata biotekniikan harjoitustöitä myös oman erityisalan ulkopuolelta, aikaisempi opetus- ja ohjauskokemus ja opiskelijapalaute, pedagoginen koulutus, taito tuottaa oppimateriaalia ja muut opetustoimessa saavutetut ansiot sekä opetusnäyte.
Tehtävän kelpoisuusvaatimuksista on säädetty Turun yliopiston johtosäännössä. Yliopisto-opettajan tehtävään otettavalta edellytetään siihen soveltuvaa ylempää korkeakoulututkintoa ja hyvää opetustaitoa.

Palkkasumma täsmentyy työsopimusta laadittaessa. Palkka määräytyy yliopistojen työehtosopimuksen perusteella. Tehtävä kuuluu opetus- ja tutkimushenkilökuntaan ja tehtävän vaativuustaso on 4 – 5, lisäksi maksetaan henkilökohtaiseen suoriutumiseen perustuvaa palkanosaa. Palkkaus aiemmasta kokemuksesta ja osaamisesta riippuen on noin 3100 – 3900 eur/kk. Tehtävässä on kuuden kuukauden koeaika.

In your role as a laboratory analyst/technician, your work is to skilfully and precisely perform laboratory experiments related to gene technology, microbiology, enzyme analytics, and automation. The daily tasks would include e.g. production of enzymes in fungal platform, analysis of laboratory scale cultivations and documentation of the results. We expect you to adhere to our agreed high standards and HSE practices.
The position is a permanent and located in Rajamäki, Finland.
About you
You hold a Bachelor´s degree from University of Applied Sciences or a technician´s degree and have hands-on skills in molecular biology methods (PCR, DNA extraction etc.) and microbiology methods, especially using bacteria or fungi. Laboratory experience in enzyme or other biotechnology industry is a clear asset. We are expecting a pragmatic and independent working style with the ability to prioritize and organize individual tasks for efficient throughput. We are looking for a reliable team player and value a high level of responsibility and accountability, as well as a willingness to further develop your skills. Good written and verbal communication skills in English are essential. Finnish language skills are considered as an advantage.

In this position, you will play an essential role in supporting and leading development projects within R&D and contribute towards our greater goal of providing animal-free egg protein ingredients to the world. We aim to play a significant role in building the sustainable food system with the help of our partners throughout the world. Towards this goal our team utilizes microbial production systems for expressing egg white proteins using filamentous fungi.
Your responsibilities as Protein Scientist:
Conducting scientific projects in the fields of molecular biology and protein production.
Using your expertise in molecular biology and protein engineering to address challenges in egg white protein production.
Developing protein screening technologies and workflows for novel egg white protein production.
Further developing our protein expression platforms with the newest innovations.
Comprehensive and timely documentation of activities in electronic lab notebooks and relevant databases.
Who we are looking for:
Candidate should have a Master’s degree in biotechnology, molecular biology, protein chemistry, or related field.
Proven, excellent laboratory skills and experience in molecular biology and protein science techniques, including DNA cloning and mutagenesis, protein expression, protein purification using chromatography techniques, protein analysis, assay development, and protein functional characterization.
Preference will be given to candidates with experience working in yeast or filamentous fungi.
Industrial experience working in a biotechnology company would be a big plus.
Good scientific reporting skills.
Good written and spoken English skills.
