with a strong experience and understanding in cell-based assays and high-throughput cell imaging techniques for one year R&D project.
You will have a key role in establishing fluorescence-based imaging methodologies for quantitative analysis of cell cultures. Your capabilities include hands-on experience in setting up the required methodologies, and preferably knowledge of high-content imaging equipment, and related analytical automation. You will design the methods together with a senior expert and be responsible for successful implementation of the methodology. If the project is successful, you have a possibility to continue in a permanent position, where your responsibilities will additionally include training our staff and contributing to the company’s services as an in vitro toxicology scientist.
You have a university degree in a suitable field (e.g. biochemistry, cell biology, toxicology), with work experience relevant to the position. Cell culture and cell imaging experience (fluorescent staining methods 2D and/or 3D) is a prerequisite. Experience in high-content imaging and ADME & toxicity in vitro/in vivo techniques are considered as a benefit.

Buffer-tiimissä valmistamme kaikki tuotannossa käyttämämme liokset, Upstream-tiimissä aloitamme tuotantoprosessin soluviljelyllä ja jatkamme solujen kasvattamista bioreaktoreissa. Prosessin aikana solut infektoidaan ja lopulta kerätään talteen. Upstreamista tuote siirtyy Downstream-tiimille, joka puolestaan puhdistaa tuotteen kromatografisilla menetelmillä niin, että tuote on vihdoin valmis täytettäväksi lääkepulloihin. Drug Product -tiimi keskittyy aseptiseen täyttämiseen ja tuotteen loppuvaiheen toimenpiteisiin kuten formulointiin, fillingiin sekä pakkaamiseen liittyviin toimintoihin. Drug Product -tiimissä taustasi voi olla myös esimerkiksi farmaseutti.

We are looking for a knowledgeable and growing group of Technicians to our production plant for various Manufacturing operations.
For example, you may have a background as a laboratory assistant, bioanalyst, process worker, or equipment maintainer. We have four teams in production and we are seeking new reinforcements as our operations grow rapidly. In the Buffer team, we prepare all the solutions we use in production, in the Upstream team, we start the production process with cell culture and continue by growing the cells in the bioreactors. During the process, the cells are infected and eventually harvested. From Upstream, the product is transferred to the Downstream team, which in turn purifies the product using chromatographic methods so that the product is finally ready to be filled into glass vials. Our Drug Product team focuses on aseptic filling and final stage measures e.g. formulating, filling and packaging.
You will succeed in the tasks if you are precise and systematic in your work approach and you are not afraid of equipment or challenges / changing situations. We are looking for a person who enjoys to work in hands-on laboratory work with heavy documentation that if familiar in our field of pharmaceutical manufacturing. Postdoctoral researcher
to join a research project headed by Professor Peppi Karppinen in the ECM & Hypoxia Research Unit, in Biocenter Oulu and Faculty of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine. The position is fixed time for period of 01.01.2023-31.12.2023.
Our research focuses on the enzyme family of 2-oxoglutarate-dependent dioxygenases (2OGDDs) and their potential as therapeutic targets. Our main interests are in the hypoxia-inducible factor prolyl 4-hydroxylases, P4H-TM, histone lysine demethylases (KDMs) and some understudied 2OGDDs with disease connections. We use biochemical, enzymological, cell biological and genetic mouse models to understand how these enzymes regulate normal physiological and developmental processes. In addition, we study their inhibition as a potential therapeutic option in selected pathological conditions, with main focus currently on obesity, metabolic dysfunction, aging and cancer.
To successfully occupy the position, you must possess a PhD degree preferably in the field of biochemistry, molecular or cell biology, medical science or related fields. Degree must have been completed before starting the position. Prior experience from recombinant protein production in different host systems, protein purification, enzyme kinetic analyses, biophysical analyses and structural biology (crystallization, cryoEM) are required. Prior knowledge of the research field is considered an advantage. Ability to pursue independent research, high motivation, good teamwork skills and excellent writing and fluency in English is expected. Good scientific presentation skills are required and teaching experience is considered an advantage.

Molecular Nanoengineering group at the Department of Neuroscience and Biomedical Engineering, Aalto University (Finland),
is looking for motivated and talented doctoral researchers (PhD students) with an aptitude for interdisciplinary experimental research and interest in DNA nanotechnology, molecular self-assembly, active plasmonics and artificial molecular machines.
The positions are fully funded by the ERC Consolidator Grant “Electrically driven DNA-origami-based machines” (EDRIVE).
Your role and goals
You will work on design, fabrication, and characterization of electrically driven nanoscale molecular machines. As a member of the group, you will be trained in advanced methods in DNA nanotechnology (especially DNA origami), and state-of-the-art electron beam and optical microscopy and nanoscopy techniques. Depending on the background and scientific interests, your research will be directed either towards i) fabrication of active plasmonic surfaces and biosensors; or ii) construction of artificial molecular motors. We expect you to propose and develop scientific ideas and technical solutions (both individually and as part of a team), write scientific articles and contribute to teaching.
Your experience and background
We expect the candidates to hold a MSc degree and/or have solid background at least in one of the following areas: applied physics, bionanotechnology, physical chemistry, material science, chemical engineering. Previous experience in nanomicroscopy (AFM, TEM, SEM), DNA nanotechnology, colloidal synthesis, super resolution microscopy and nanophotonics is an advantage. Furthermore, the candidate should have good communication skills, good analytical and experimental skills and ability to work independently toward the goals of his/her project.

The Molecular Nanoengineering group operates at the interface of nanoscience, DNA nanotechnology, molecular self-assembly and nanophotonics with particular focus on DNA-based self-assembled systems with functionalities tailored for biosensing, active plasmonics and nanomachinery. The group is led by Associate Professor Anton Kuzyk.
The expected duration of doctoral studies is four years. The initial contract is made for one year and the extension is subject to the progress of studies and research. Open position for a Postdoctoral researcher in Bioengineering and Stem Cell Biology
The laboratory of Professor Pekka Katajisto at the Faculty of Biological and Environmental Sciences and Institute of Biotechnology, HiLIFE at the University of Helsinki, Finland, and at the Department of Cell and Molecular Biology, Karolinska Institutet, Sweden, is looking for a postdoctoral researcher with bioengineering background to study effects of the extracellular niche on stem cell function.
Katajisto group (www.katajisto-lab.com) is part of the Centre of Excellence in Stem Cell Metabolism, MetaStem, and studies stem cell extrinsic and intrinsic mechanisms of tissue renewal and aging. We have for example discovered how age-induced alterations in the stem cell niche reduce tissue repair (Pentinmikko, Nature 2019, Science Advances 2022; Iqbal, BioRxiv 2021), and how cellular metabolism drives cell fate decisions after asymmetric cell divisions (Katajisto, Science 2015; D hla, Nat Cell Biol 2022)
We seek postdoctoral researchers to an ERC-funded project probing how the geometry of the niche influences cell fate decisions using bioengineered scaffolds to modify tissue topology. The project involves development of novel research techniques and assays, and will be facilitated by state-of-the art maskless photolithography instrumentation dedicated to the project.
Applicants with a doctoral degree, and a strong background in tissue/bioengineering or biotechnology are encouraged to apply. The position includes research and experimental work as well as setting up, maintaining, and running instruments used to develop 3D scaffolds for tissue regeneration and stem cell studies. Experience with cell biology, tissue culture or stem cells is considered a benefit. Candidates are also encouraged to start new projects and research directions. Organon is hiring a Research Senior Scientist to join our team in Turku, Finland.
Purpose of the role
Independently coordinate basic research activities
Assist drug discovery lead and senior scientists in drug discovery and development projects
Assist in establishing priorities and timelines to meet project objectives
Liaise with both internal cross-functional team members and outsourced partners
The primary responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Coordination of compound logistics and in vitro screening routines
Coordinating outsourced research activities
Procuring catalog chemicals, commercial screening compounds and custom synthesis products
Providing documentation for vendors, couriers, customs, and financial management
Keeping chemistry database (SAR) up to date, and troubleshooting problems with these databases
Attending lab meetings, project meetings, and meeting with external collaborators
Assist project team with preparation of reports and presentations
Under general guidance
interpret and evaluate scientific data and screening results
propose conclusions and follow-up experiments
review literature and patents
participate in synthetic route scouting, designing of molecules, SAR analysis
Background Requirements and Qualifications
Required Experience:
Job experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry or in an academic setting is preferred
General knowledge of synthetic chemistry, common purification techniques, and structure elucidation of organic molecules
General understanding of drug discovery, medicinal chemistry, and biological principles
Excellent computer skills and ability to quickly learn and master computer programs, databases, and scientific applications
Position Qualifications:
MS in organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, biochemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, or related field
BSc in organic chemistry, chemical engineering, pharmacy, or related field with 1-5 years of relevant work experience
Required Skills:
Demonstrated ability to accurately complete detailed work
Ability to work under deadlines with general guidance
Strong organizational, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
Ability to work effectively with other scientists (chemists, biologists, pharmacologists, etc.) on a complex research project
