Human Brown Fat Research Group (located in Turku, Turku PET Centre) is looking for a Postdoctoral Researcher for a fixed term position, starting 1 August 2026, ending 31 Januray 2028.
Job description
Your responsibility is the following: to implement and conduct a clinical exercise trial and conduct O-15 O2 and O-15 H2O measurements for brown fat and skeletal muscle perfusion and oxygen consumption (if available) using PET-CT imaging. Other measurements, including OGTT, fitness tests, continuous glucose monitoring, energy expenditure, etc., will be included. Other responsibilities include data analysis and reporting, scientific publishing, participation in supervision and research group activities, grant applications as well as national and international collaboration.
Who we are looking for
The candidate should hold a PhD degree. We are seeking a candidate with a strong background in Exercise Physiology and prior experience conducting clinical exercise trials. Experience with imaging methods -particularly PET-CT and MRI- is required.
The position involves designing, conducting, and analysing measurements using a PET/CT system. Candidates should preferably be able to demonstrate previous expertise in these areas, for example through relevant publications.
In addition, the role will involve working with omics data derived from skeletal muscle and adipose tissue. Experience in this field, particularly when combined with PET-CT image analysis, will be highly valued. Knowledge and experience related to obesity physiology are also considered an advantage.
Essential skills include excellent written and spoken English and Finnish, strong communication abilities, the capacity to conduct independent research and contribute to scientific publishing, as well as effective teamwork skills.

Salary and trial period

BioCity Turku is a joint biocentre which links the University of Turku and Åbo Akademi University to support and coordinate life science and molecular medicine related research in the Turku region. We are now hiring a Research Infrastructure focused laboratory engineer. We are therefore looking for a person with solid background on protein chemistry and/or protein analysis technologies, but also a customer-oriented attitude to serve the customer base and to develop the services. Salary and trial period

The position has regular working hours and uses a time card (clock-in system) on a daily basis.The job requirement level of the position is MV08 – MV09. In addition, a salary component based on personal work performance is paid. Turku PET Centre is looking for a Project Researcher or Doctoral Researcher in PET imaging for a fixed-term position lasting approximately 2.5 years, starting no later than 1 March 2026 (exact start date negotiable), ending 31 August, 2028. The position may be extended after this date.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled researcher for our project, which involves developing new methods for modeling and reconstructing total body (large axial field of view) PET data. The project is led by Docent Jarmo Teuho and funded by the Academy of Finland.
Job description
Your responsibility is the following: to develop kinetic modelling and new reconstruction methods for total body (large axial field of view) PET/CT, analyse and report data and participate as a member of the research group and conduct scientific publishing, supervision and reporting actions as part of your PhD and as a part of a larger research group.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for a candidate with an Medical Physics or Biomedical Engineering (or equivalent) background. Preferably you already have some experience from imaging methods, especially PET imaging.
The position requires excellent programming skills with Python and MATLAB. Preferably, you are able to provide some proven examples. Additional programming skills and knowledge of GPU programming are a plus, but are not essential requirements.
The essential skills we require are good written and spoken English skills, and the ability to communicate clearly, capability for independent research work and scientific publishing, as well as group work skills.
A Doctoral Researcher must have a study right in the Turku University Doctoral Programme, otherwise the title of a Project Researcher is used. To be eligible for the post of Project Researcher, candidates must have a Master’s degree by the closing date for applications.

Työpaikkakuvaus
Turun yliopiston Matemaattis-luonnontieteellisen tiedekunnan Biologian laitoksella on haettavana 1,5-vuotinen projektitutkijan tehtävä. Työsuhde alkaa 2.3.2026 tai sopimuksen mukaan.
Turun yliopiston puutiaistutkimusryhmässä (Puutiaiset ja niiden levittämät taudit Suomessa | Puutiaistutkimus) on tutkittu jo lähes viidentoista vuoden ajan kansanterveydellisesti merkittävien puutiaislajien ja taudinaiheuttajien biologiaa. Tutkimusryhmä toteutti vuonna 2015 valtakunnanlaajuisen kansalaiskeräyksen, jonka aikana ihmiset lähettivät noin 20 000 puutiaista yliopistolle tutkittavaksi. Tutkimuksen myötä saimme ensimmäistä kertaa tarkan käsityksen eri puutiaislajien ja taudinaiheuttajien esiintymisestä Suomessa. Vastaava keräys ollaan toistamassa Koneen Säätiön rahoituksella vuoden 2026 aikana. Palkattavan tutkijan työtehtävät keskittyvät pitkälti tämän kansalaiskeräyshankkeen ympärille.
Tehtävänkuvaus
Palkattava tutkija tulee ottamaan tutkimusryhmän väitöskirjatutkijan kanssa vetovastuun kansalaiskeräyksen puutiaisnäytteiden vastaanottamisesta, kirjaamisesta ja käsittelystä. Lisäksi hän tulee vetämään kansalaiskeräykseen liittyviä laboratoriotöitä. Kansalaiskeräyksen ohella tutkijan odotetaan osallistuvan myös tutkimusryhmän muihin työtehtäviin, kuten puutiaiskasvatusten ylläpitoon, maastotöihin ja opinnäytetöiden käytännön ohjaamiseen laboratoriossa. Muut työtehtävät saattavat sisältää koe-eläinten kanssa työskentelyä.
Etsimämme henkilö
Haemme tehtävään runsaasti kokemusta laboratoriotyöskentelystä omaavaa henkilöä, joka kykenee ottamaan vetovastuun kansalaiskeräykseen liittyvistä laboratoriotöistä (DNA ja RNA eristykset ja taudinaiheuttaja-analyysit) sekä tukemaan ja ohjaamaan väitöskirjatutkijan ja opinnäytetöiden tekijöiden työskentelyä laboratoriossa. Tutkimusryhmämme laboratoriotyöt ovat varsin monipuolisia ja vaihtelevia, joten hakijalta toivotaan lisäksi laajaa kokemusta erilaisista laboratoriomenetelmistä osoituksena kyvystä opetella ja omaksua uusia tutkimusmenetelmiä. Muihin työtehtäviin saattaa liittyä koe-eläinten (hiiret) kanssa työskentelyä, joten suoritettu koe-eläinkurssi ja kokemus koe-eläinten kanssa työskentelystä katsotaan eduksi. Hakijan toimenkuvaan kuuluu suomenkielisten kirjeiden lukemista ja tulkintaa sekä työskentelyä monikansallisessa tutkimusryhmässä, joten häneltä edellytetään hyvää suullista ja kirjallista suomen ja englannin kielen taitoa.
Ennen hakemuksen määräaikaa suoritettu FM-tutkinto toimenkuvaan sopivalta alalta on vaatimus projektitutkijan tehtäviin.
Valintakriteerit perustuvat pätevimmän ja sopivimman hakijan löytämiseen, korostaen erityisesti hakijan tutkimuspotentiaalia, motivaatiota sekä henkilökohtaista soveltuvuutta tehtävään.

Projektitutkijan palkka määräytyy vaativuustasojen 2-4 mukaisesti (2281,48- 2844,66 €/kk). Lisäksi maksetaan henkilökohtaiseen suoriutumiseen perustuvaa palkanosaa. Palkkaus aiemmasta kokemuksesta ja osaamisesta riippuen on tehtävän alussa noin 2400-2700 €/kk.
Tehtävässä noudatetaan kuuden (6) kuukauden koeaikaa.

Teknillisen tiedekunnan Bioteknologian laitoksessa on haettavana molekulaarisen biotekniikan ja diagnostiikan yliopisto-opettajan työsopimussuhteinen määräaikainen tehtävä ajalle 1.1.2026 – 31.3.2029. Määräaikaisuuden peruste on sijaisuus.
Tehtävänkuvaus
Yliopisto-opettajan tehtävä sijoittuu laitoksen biotekniikan yksikköön ja sen keskeisimmät opetusvastuut liittyvät molekyylibiotieteet tutkinto-ohjelman molekulaarinen biotekniikka ja diagnostiikka -linjan opetukseen. Yliopisto-opettajan tehtävään kuuluu vastuu linjan harjoitustöiden suunnittelusta ja toteutuksesta ja sekä muita pääosin aine- ja syventäviin opintoihin liittyviä opetustehtäviä. Lisäksi tehtävään sisältyy opinnäytetöiden ohjausta, opinnäytetöiden ja työselostusten tarkastamista ja utugradu-prosessin hoitamista lopputöitä palauttaville opiskelijoille sekä tutkimus- ja hallintotyötä ja vastuuta tutkinto-ohjelmien kehittämisestä. Opetusvastuuseen kuuluvat mm. kurssit: MBID0019 Lab Exercises for Master’s Thesis in Molecular Biotechnology and Diagnostics, 10 op, ja MBID0035 Scientific Reporting, 5 op.
Etsimämme henkilö
Tehtävään otettavalta henkilöltä edellytetään aikaisempaa perehtyneisyyttä molekulaarisen biotekniikan ja in vitro -diagnostiikan sovellusalueeseen, erityisesti seuraaviin osaamisalueisiin: rekombinanttisitojaproteiinien ja -vasta-aineiden kehitys ja tuotto molekyylibiologisin menetelmin sekä näiden molekyylien diagnostiset ja muut biotekniset sovellukset. Tehtävää täytettäessä eduksi katsotaan tietoteknisiin menetelmiin ja tehosekvensointitekniikoihin perustuva osaaminen proteiinimuokkauksessa. Eduksi katsotaan myös alan aikaisempi julkaisu- ja tutkimustoiminta ja/tai jatko-opintojen suorittaminen tehtäväalalla sekä työkokemus alan teollisuudesta ja/tai tutkimusyhteistyö teollisuuden kanssa. Hyvä suomen ja englannin kielen taito on tehtävässä välttämätön. Valittavan henkilön edellytetään osallistuvan aktiivisesti alan tutkimukseen ja omaavan valmiudet hankkia omaa tutkimusrahoitusta.
Hakijan ansioita arvioitaessa keskeinen kriteeri on käytännön perehtyneisyys tehtäväalaan opetustehtävien kannalta ja valmius aloittaa tehtävässä 1.1.2026. Arvioitaessa huomioidaan myös aikaisempi julkaisu- ja tutkimustoiminta ja näkemys tutkimuksen suuntaamisesta tehtävässä tai väitöskirjatutkimuksessa proteiinimuokkauksen menetelmiin tai sovelluksiin, erityisesti tekninen asiantuntemus, valmius ohjata biotekniikan harjoitustöitä myös oman erityisalan ulkopuolelta, aikaisempi opetus- ja ohjauskokemus ja opiskelijapalaute, pedagoginen koulutus, taito tuottaa oppimateriaalia ja muut opetustoimessa saavutetut ansiot sekä opetusnäyte.

Palkkaus ja koeaika
Palkkasumma täsmentyy työsopimusta laadittaessa. Palkka määräytyy yliopistojen työehtosopimuksen perusteella. Tehtävä kuuluu opetus- ja tutkimushenkilökuntaan ja tehtävän vaativuustaso on 4 – 5, lisäksi maksetaan henkilökohtaiseen suoriutumiseen perustuvaa palkanosaa. Työpaikkakuvaus
Turun yliopiston Bioteknologian laitos muodostuu neljästä toisiaan tukevasta osastosta, jotka keskittyvät opetukseen ja tutkimukseen biokemian, biotekniikan, elintarviketieteiden sekä molekulaarisen kasvibiologian aloilla. Erityisesti biomolekyylit sekä niiden solu- ja molekyylitason reaktiot ovat keskeisessä roolissa laitoksella tehtävässä opetuksessa ja tutkimuksessa. Bioteknologian laitos tarjoaa useita kandidaatin (LuK, TkK) ja maisterin (FM, DI) tutkinto-ohjelmia vastaamaan yhteiskunnan kasvavaan asiantuntijatarpeeseen.
Keskeiset tehtävät
Uusi biokemian toistaiseksi voimassa oleva yliopistonlehtorin tehtävä sijoittuu Turun yliopiston Bioteknologian laitokselle. Osana laitoksen opettajakuntaa valittava henkilö suunnittelee ja toteuttaa aktiivisesti kahden kandidaattitutkinto-ohjelman (biotekniikan TkK ja biokemian LuK) ja kahden maisteriohjelman (Biomolekyylien tuotanto DI ja Molekyylibiotieteet Biokemia FM) kokonaisuuksia.
Työtehtäviin sisältyy monipuolisia opetustehtäviä biotuotannon, teollisen mikrobiologian ja biomolekyylitieteiden aloilla. Tehtävään otettavalta henkilöltä toivomme aikaisempaa perehtyneisyyttä erityisesti yhteen tai useampaan seuraavista mikrobiologian osaamisalueista: (i) hienokemikaalien ja lääkeaineiden tuotto mikrobeissa, (ii) metabolianmuokkaus ja synteettisen biologia, ja (iii) fermentaatioprosessit ja bioprosessitekniikka. Opetustehtäviin lukeutuu esimerkiksi luentojen, kirjatenttien ja harjoitustöiden suunnitteleminen ja toteuttaminen sekä laboratoriokurssien ohjaaminen. Tehtävään kuuluu myös opinto-ohjausta, opinnäytetöiden, gradu-/diplomityöntekijöiden ja jatko-opiskelijoiden ohjaamista sekä muita hallintoon ja organisointiin liittyviä tehtäviä kuten tutkimusinfrastruktuurien ylläpito ja kehittäminen.
Tehtäväalaan liittyvä aikaisempi opetus-, julkaisu- ja tutkimustoiminta on välttämätöntä. Valittavan henkilön edellytetään osallistuvan aktiivisesti alan tutkimukseen ja hankkivan omaa tutkimusrahoitusta. Työkokemus biotekniikan alan teollisuudesta ja/tai tutkimusyhteistyö teollisuuden kanssa katsotaan eduksi.
Etsimämme henkilö
Tehtävän kelpoisuusvaatimuksista on säädetty Turun yliopiston johtosäännössä. Yliopistonlehtorin tehtävään otettavalta edellytetään soveltuvaa tohtorin tutkintoa sekä kykyä antaa laadukasta tutkimukseen perustuvaa opetusta ja ohjata opinnäytteitä. Kärkihakijoiden taidot arvioidaan kokonaisvaltaisesti sisältäen opetusnäytteen antamisen.

About the Photosynthetic Microbes Research Group
We study the regulation of photosynthesis and apply photosynthetic principles to develop sustainable biotechnologies. Our research encompasses several areas, including the elucidation of photosynthetic electron transport pathways, engineering photosynthesis for enhanced bioproduction of solar chemicals, biophotovoltaic (BPV) systems, and large-scale algal cultivation for phytoremediation and the production of green chemicals such as biostimulants and biopesticides

Job description
The AlgaCircle project aims to utilize effluents from Finnish industries to cultivate microalgae and upgrade the resulting biomass through a multiproduct biorefinery approach. The project is carried out in collaboration with several industrial partners.
Position #1 will focus on testing different algal formulations on crops and will work in close collaboration with researchers operating large photobioreactors. Part of the experiments will be conducted together with the NAPPI plant phenotyping platform.
Position #2 will focus on optimizing the phytoremediation of industrial effluents by adjusting photobioreactor parameters and applying genetic engineering and synthetic biology approaches.

Salary and trial period

The immunology research group “Leukocyte Traffic and the Immune Response”, led by Professor Marko Salmi, invites applications for two fixed-term postdoctoral researcher positions at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Turku. The positions are funded by the Research Council of Finland and the Jane and Aatos Erkko Foundation.
Our group focuses on understanding how protective and pathogenic innate and adaptive immune responses are initiated during inflammation, cancer, and vaccination (Salmilab). Key areas of interest include the trafficking of antigens from peripheral tissues to lymph nodes via lymphatic vessels, the role of lymph node stromal cells in immune responses, myeloid leukocyte differentiation and function, and immunological biomarkers of inflammation and cancer. We employ advanced microscopy-based imaging, flow cytometry, single-cell omics, and functional immunological assays in experimental models, complemented by analyses of patient samples and close collaboration with clinicians. Our group operates within the MediCity Research Laboratory at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Turku, and belongs to the InFLAMES Flagship of the Research Council of Finland, a national initiative advancing translational immunological research.
Job description
We are looking for two motivated postdoctoral researchers to study the initiation of immune responses in lymphoid tissues and their targeted pharmacological modulation.
In one project, we investigate how free antigens in lymph enter the lymph node parenchyma and influence stromal cells during different phases of immune response. In the other project, our goal is to develop new strategies to deliver antibody-based immunoregulatory drugs specifically to lymph nodes in cancer and inflammatory diseases.
Both projects aim to uncover cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying lymph node function.
- The successful candidates will conduct laboratory experiments (including in vivo models), analyze samples using imaging and omics technologies, develop new experimental methods, and prepare scientific publications. There are also opportunities to develop independent projects, supervise PhD students, and participate in teaching, supporting career advancement beyond the postdoctoral stage.

Salary and trial period
The salary is determined according to the Finnish university salary system (teaching and research staff category). The starting salary for a postdoctoral researcher is approximately €3,600–4,000 per month, depending on qualifications and experience.
The position starts on 1 January 2026 or as agreed. The position is fixed-term for 2–3 years with a six-month trial period. Continuation beyond the initial term may be negotiated.

Turun yliopiston lääketieteellisessä tiedekunnassa on haettavana määräaikainen väitöskirjatutkijan tehtävä ImmuDocs-tohtorikoulutuspilotissa. Työsuhde alkaa sopimuksen mukaan, kuitenkin viimeistään 1.12.2025, ja päättyy 31.12.2027.
ImmuDocs on Opetus- ja kulttuuriministeriön rahoittama valtakunnallinen hanke, joka kouluttaa asiantuntijoita immunologian, diagnostiikan ja lääkekehityksen aloille. Pilottiin kuuluu 81 väitöskirjatutkijaa, ja se on osa Suomen Akatemian rahoittamaa InFLAMES-lippulaivaa.
Haussa oleva väitöskirjatutkijan paikka liittyy projektiin Evaluating Anti-viral and Immune-Based Therapies in Cytomegalovirus-Positive Colorectal Cancer, jonka vastuullisena johtajana toimii Cecilia Söderberg-Nauclér (projekti nro 54 ImmuDocs-sivustolla). Tehtäviin kuuluu oman väitöskirjatutkimuksen tekeminen sekä jatko-opintojen suorittaminen, ja valitun tutkijan odotetaan sitoutuvan ImmuDocs-pilotin ja tohtoriohjelman sääntöihin.
Hakijalta edellytetään soveltuvaa aiempaa tutkintoa sekä tohtorintutkinnon opiskeluoikeutta Turun yliopiston Immunologian tohtoriohjelmassa. Mikäli opiskeluoikeutta ei vielä ole, sitä tulee hakea 29.8.–12.9.2025 Opintopolku.fi-järjestelmässä. Tehtävään ei voida valita henkilöä, jolla on jo tohtorintutkinto tai opiskeluoikeus on myönnetty ennen 1.11.2023. Työsuhde edellyttää asumista Suomessa ja työskentelyä Turussa.
Turun yliopisto tarjoaa mielenkiintoisen tutkimusympäristön, korkeatasoista ohjausta sekä mahdollisuuden työskennellä osana ImmuDocs- ja InFLAMES-verkostoja. Palkka määräytyy yliopiston palkkausjärjestelmän mukaisesti ja vaihtelee noin 2500–3300 euron välillä kokemuksesta ja tutkimuksen edistymisestä riippuen. Tehtävä on täysipäiväinen, vuosittainen työaika on 1612 tuntia, ja työsuhteessa sovelletaan kuuden kuukauden koeaikaa.
