Duties And Responsibilities
Conduct research activities to create and evaluate proof of concepts.
Plan independently and/or as part of a team laboratory experiments.
Participate to innovation activities.
Develop internal research methodology.
Work with field application specialists to identify unmet customer needs and explore potential solutions.
Manage internal exploratory research projects, in alignment with segment R&D´s.
Execute external research collaborations with academic, startup and industry partners.
Monitor academic publications and commercial innovations for novel technologies in the life science space which could become relevant to PerkinElmer.
Encourage and support innovation contributions from all PerkinElmer employees by contributing content to the Innovation Portal, assessing internal innovation proposals, and coaching in-house innovators.
Basic Qualifications
You have master’s degree in biotechnology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or similar.
You are a true science enthusiast and a fast learner.
Writing should be natural for you as you will write abstracts and participate to writing scientific publications, patent applications and literature reviews.
Working language English.

An Early Stage Researcher position is available in the Molecular Physiology research group at the A.I. Virtanen Institute for molecular sciences, University of Eastern Finland, Kuopio, Finland. The Molecular Physiology research group has a longstanding interest in the comprehensive understanding of cell physiology and cellular dysfunction in excitable cells, including muscle and heart.
We are seeking a highly motivated Early Stage Researcher for a project in which bioengineered human iPS-cells based cardiac tissues are used to identify clinically relevant genetic, metabolic, and physiological mechanisms of human diseases.
The position requires a strong track record in working in field and laboratory environments studying biomedicine or other related topics. This includes also mastering various measurement and analysis techniques, especially those related to physiology, genetics, and biochemistry.
The position enables the researcher to take part in supervising Bachelor and Master’s students, scientific writing, grant applications, scientific collaborations and teaching in suitable areas.
The position is filled for a two-year term from 1 May 2022 (or as agreed) to 30 April 2024. Positions of Early Stage Researchers shall always be filled for a fixed term. The position will be filled for a fixed term due to it pertaining to a specific project. A probationary period is applied to all new members of the staff.

Tehtävä ja palkkaus
Kansallisen neurokeskuksen palvelupäällikön tehtävässä työskentelet lääketieteen laitoksella, kliinisen lääketieteen yksikössä Kuopion kampuksella. Laitos kuuluu terveystieteiden tiedekuntaan.
Kansallisen neurokeskuksen tarkoituksena on edistää neurotieteiden kansallista ja kansainvälistä tutkimusyhteistyötä ja siten edesauttaa aivoterveyden edistämiseen sekä aivosairauksien diagnostiikkaan, hoitoon ja kuntoutukseen liittyvien innovaatioiden syntymistä. Tavoitteena on parempi aivoterveys ja aivosairauksien aiheuttamien kustannusten merkittävä vähentäminen Suomessa, entistäkin korkeatasoisempi ja vaikuttavampi tieteellinen tutkimus sekä uudet innovaatiot ja niiden menestyksellinen kaupallistaminen.
Kansallisen neurokeskuksen koordinoiva yksikkö toimii Itä-Suomen yliopiston terveystieteiden tiedekunnan alaisuudessa. Lisäksi on alueellinen neurokeskusverkosto, joka tarkoittaa Kansallisen neurokeskuksen yhteistyöverkostoa kuudella eri alueella, joiden keskuksina ovat Espoo ja Helsinki (Helsinki Brain & Mind), Jyväskylä, Kuopio, Oulu, Tampere ja Turku. Palvelupäällikkö toimii johtajan sijaisena ja edustaa Kansallista Neurokeskusta kansallisissa ja kansainvälisissä verkostoissa. Hän tekee neurotieteiden tutkimuksen edunajamistyötä sekä vaikuttamistyötä suhteessa päättäjiin, viranomaisiin ja tiedeyhteisöön.
Tehtävä täytetään 1.4.2022 alkaen (tai sopimuksen mukaan) kolmen vuoden määräajaksi. Määräaikaisuuden perusteena on Kansallisen Neurokeskuksen toiminnan vakiinnuttaminen. Uuden työntekijän tullessa tehtävään käytetään koeaikaa.
Tehtävän palkkaus määräytyy yliopistojen muun henkilöstön palkkausjärjestelmän mukaisesti. Palkka koostuu tehtäväkohtaisesta palkanosasta ja henkilökohtaiseen suoriutumiseen perustuvasta palkanosasta. Tässä tehtävässä tehtäväkohtainen palkanosa on vaativuustasoluokittelussa tasoilla 9-10. Lisäksi maksetaan henkilökohtaiseen suoriutumiseen perustuvaa palkanosaa, joka on 6–50 % tehtäväkohtaisesta palkanosasta. Vaativuustasosta ja henkilökohtaisesta palkanosasta riippuen palkka työsuhteen alkaessa on noin 3660 – 4223 €/kk.

HUSLAB Genetiikan laboratorio on nopeasti kasvava diagnostisia genetiikan laboratoriotutkimuksia tarjoava laboratorio. Laboratorion tutkimusvalikoima kattaa laajasti sekä perittyjen että somaattisten muutosten tutkimuksia ja toiminta on voimakkaasti siirtymässä genomin laajuisiin tutkimuksiin. Laboratoriossa voi siten saada monipuolisen ja vahvan koulutuksen ja ammattitaidon sairaalageneetikon tehtäviin.
Haettavana oleva sairaalageneetikon koulutustoimi tähtää asetuksessa (564/94) tarkoitettuun sairaalageneetikon pätevyyteen. Toimi täytetään erikoistumiskoulutuksen edellyttämäksi ajaksi. Hakemukseen tulee liittää selvitys omasta sairaalageneetikon koulutuksen vaiheesta (hyväksytyistä kliinisen ja teoreettisen koulutuksen suorituksista tai suunnitelma koulutukseen hakeutumisesta, mikäli hakija ei ole vielä koulutusohjelmassa) erillisenä liitteenä. Tehtävän hoitaminen edellyttää aloitteellista ja itsenäistä työotetta, hyvää organisointikykyä, hyviä vuorovaikutustaitoja sekä innostusta uuden oppimiseen ja kehittämiseen.
Asetuksen (221/94 ) mukainen tai aikaisempi vastaava ylempi korkeakoulututkinto. Edellytyksenä sairaalageneetikon koulutukseen hakeutumiselle on filosofian maisterin tutkinto ja suoritetut opinnot painottuen perinnöllisyystieteeseen ja ihmisgenetiikkaan. As Technical Support Specialist, you will have a key role in supporting our Cascadion™ SM Clinical Analyzer and global field based specialist team. You will work with technically advanced instruments in an innovative and international working environment by providing service, training, technical expertise and troubleshooting support. You will also help resolve customer critical issues and provide customer feedback to our product development team.
This is an ideal role for either an experienced Engineer or Technical Specialist who has previously worked with Liquid Chromatography or Mass Spectrometry instruments and applications, OR a Scientist with expertise in LC-MS. If you are in the latter category, we will provide full engineering training.
While the team is primarily based at our Vantaa, Finland site, we are happy to consider to hire this role as remote (working from home), based in Europe in close proximity to a major international airport. Fairly regular international travel (up to 20% per month) may be required when safe to do so.

What will you do?
Perform installation, repairs, preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of Cascadion™ SM Clinical Analyzers and Assays globally
Active development and delivery of live and remote technical training programs
Accurately document, analyze and report service activities
Timely handling of customer feedback cases and complaint assessment
Continuous improvement of product support documentation and contribution to product change processes
Close collaboration with the global customer care and local research and development organizations
Who we are looking for:
A Degree in Engineering OR in Life Sciences (PhD level preferred)
Hands-on experience of liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry (LC-MS) instrumentation, software, and applications (critical)
Professional experience in servicing analytical or general laboratory instruments (gained either as an Engineer or when working as a Scientist in a lab)
Experience with development of digital training programs, including AR and VR solutions and tools
Ability and mentality to effectively prioritize and resolve technical and analytical problems
Proficiency in written and spoken English; proficiency in other main European languages seen as advantage
Driving license preferred
