Tulet keskeiseen rooliin vastaamaan soluvapaan DNA:n verinäytteiden käsittelyyn liittyvän tuotteen kehitystyöstä. Patentoidun ratkaisumme osa-alueiden prototyypit ovat olemassa ja olemme siirtymässä testauksen kautta kohti tuotannollistamista.
Käytännössä tehtäviisi tulee kuulumaan ensi vaiheessa tuotteen IPR-portfolion laajentaminen, kehitystyön loppuun vieminen, kaupallisen prototyypin kehitys, markkinaselvitysten teko ja tuotteen saattaminen markkinoille.
Projektiin osallistuu laboratoriohenkilöstömme ja toimitusjohtajamme, jolle myös raportoit.
Työsi on ensisijaisesti parin vuoden projekti, mutta tavoitteemme on laajentaa tehtävänkuvaasi taustasi ja kiinnostustesi mukaan analytiikan kehitykseen, uusien tuotekehitysprojektien ohjaamiseen tai liiketoiminnan kehitykseen ja kaupallistamiseen.

Role and salary
As our new Postdoctoral or Project Researcher in Biomedical NMR, you will be working in the A.I. Virtanen Institute at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Kuopio Campus.
The Metabolic MRI group at the University of Eastern Finland is aiming to develop hyperpolarisation-based methods for metabolic magnetic resonance imaging. The applicant will be working in a neuroimaging project, aimed to image stroke and other neurological models at high (3T) and low (0.6T) magnetic fields. The project will improve the understanding of the metabolism of hyperpolarised marker molecules (e.g. pyruvate) during stroke and help establish the experimental basis for further development of hyperpolarized low-field MRI. The researcher will join a group currently including 2 PhD students and the Research Director. In addition to collaborations within Finland, the project involves collaborations with research groups in Denmark and Italy.
The successful candidate will hold a suitable doctoral degree. If you have been awarded your doctoral degree less than five years ago, the post will be one of a Postdoctoral Researcher. If the doctoral degree has been awarded more than five years ago, the post will be one of a Project Researcher. In this context, the 5 years refer to a net period time, which does not include maternity leaves, parental leaves, or military service.
The position will be filled for a two-year term from 1 May 2021 (or as agreed). The position will be filled for a fixed term due to it pertaining to a specific project. A probationary period is applied to all new members of the staff.
The salary of the position is determined in accordance with the salary system of the Finnish universities. The salary comprises two components: a job requirement component and a personal performance component. In this position, the job requirement component is 2,967.84 euros/month, based on level 5 of the job requirement chart for teaching and research staff. The personal performance component can be a minimum of 6 % and a maximum of 50 % of the above-mentioned sum.At the beginning the salary will be 3 267,59 – 3 626,70 e.

Professor Heli Skottman’s eye group develops novel human stem cell-based tools for the corneal and retinal repair through cell transplantation and ophthalmic in vitro tissue models that can be used to model human specific eye disorders. The research group was the first to create parts of human corneas using 3D bioprinting technology and currently group is developing this emerging technology with aim to 3D bioprint full-thickness human corneas for therapeutic applications with fight against cornea blindness.
Job description
The post-doctoral position will focus on molecular and functional analyses of human stem cell derived corneal cells produced with innovative methods created by the group, in vitro ophthalmic disease modeling with these cells as well as molecular and functional characterization of novel 3D bioprinted corneal structures.
The candidate will gain expertise in working with multidisciplinary and international research area and supervision of younger researchers and students. The research group fully support also with establishment of independent research pathway in future.

We are seeking a part-time (50%) researcher with experience in bioinformatics to join the team of Professor Jukka Westermarck at Turku Bioscience Centre. The project is focused on predicting drug responses in cancer cells based on the existing multiomics data. The main task is to process and analyze different sequencing data (including transcriptomics, proteomics and genetics), and based on this to predict drug responses. Experimental validation of cell lines is also included.

The Department of Research and Development of the Finnish Red Cross Blood Service, Helsinki, Finland, is looking for a project scientist (MSc in cell or molecular biology or pharmacy, or equivalent) in a project focusing on biology, production and applications of blood cell derived extracellular vesicles (EV).
The research project is funded by the Academy of Finland Flagship program GeneCellNano (2020-2024). The person hired for this post will be employed by the University of Eastern Finland, but carry out the actual work at the Department of R&D of the Finnish Red Cross Blood Service, located in the Biomedicum 1, Helsinki Meilahti Campus area. The scientist will be working as a member of the EV research team that focuses on biology and applications of EVs produced by blood cells. The team is led by Dr Saara Laitinen; team’s recent activities are described in the following key publications (10.1016/j.bios.2020.112510 , 10.1080/20013078.2018.1535750, 10.1016/j.bbalip.2019.03.011, 10.1016/j.bbalip.2019.06.010 ).
The work will be performed in close collaboration with, but independently from, the EVE –project, aiming to novel products from blood and funded by the Business Finland. The position is primarily aimed for a post-graduate PhD student.
The project is conducted in collaboration with research groups from the Universities of Helsinki, Oulu and Eastern Finland. The work involves planning the research, carrying out experiments and interpreting and reporting the results.
Skills and experience
The candidate should have a suitable university degree and experience on or interest in cell biology and nanoscience techniques. Experience in various analytical laboratory technologies and basic molecular biology techniques such as protein chemistry, vibrational spectroscopy, liquid chromatography, and further knowledge in imaging techniques such as flow cytometry, microscopy and other more advanced imaging techniques would be an asset. The project will employ many in vitro and in vivo functional assays in house and through national and international collaboration. The work requires self-driven and motivated scientists with previous experience of research. Collaboration and communication skills are important. Artikkelissa on haastateltu myös professori Varpu Marjomäkeä (Jyväskylän yliopisto), joka on yhdessä erikoistutkija Riikka Linnakosken (Luke) kanssa löytänyt kotimaisista sienistä saatavia yhdisteitä, jotka tuhoavat tehokkaasti myös koronavirusten taudinaiheuttamiskyvyn.
Suomen Solubiologit ry uudistaa nettisivunsa, minkä kunniaksi olemme päättäneet järjestää bannerikilpailun! Lähetä meille mikroskooppikuva, niin osallistut kilpailuun, jonka voittaja saa kuvansa uusien nettisivujen banneriksi ja Solubiologi-lehden kanteen. Voittaja palkitaan lisäksi vuoden ilmaisella jäsenyydellä!
Bannerikilpailun järjestää Suomen Solubiologit ry.
Kilpailuun osallistuvan henkilön tulee omistaa oikeudet lähetettyyn mikroskooppikuvaan. Kilpailuun osallistuja voi kuitenkin lähettää kuvan kolmannen osapuolen (esim. kollega tai yhteistyökumppani) puolesta, mutta tällöin kolmannen osapuolen täytyy kirjoittaa sekä allekirjoittaa vapaamuotoinen lausunto siitä, että lähettäjä saa osallistua kilpailuun kuvallaan.
Kilpailu päättyy maanantaina 5. päivä huhtikuuta 2021. Tämän jälkeen saapuvat kuvat eivät pääse osallistumaan kilpailuun.
Kuvan lähettäjä vastaa siitä, että kuvan hankinnassa ja jakamisessa noudatetaan EU:n yleisen tietosuoja-asetuksen eettisiä ohjeita ja säädöksiä.
Kilpailuun voi osallistua maksimissaan kolmella mikroskooppikuvalla. Kuvatiedoston nimen tulee koostua kuvan nimestä sekä osallistujan nimestä, esim. mikrotubulus_Matti_Meikalainen.tiff.
Jokaiseen kilpailuun osallistuvan kuvan mukaan tulee liittää seuraavat tiedot: Kuvan lähettäjän nimi ja affiliaatio, sekä tarvittaessa myös kolmas osapuoli, joka on antanut suostumuksensa kuvan käyttämiseen kilpailussa (Liitä tässä tapauksessa mukaan myös suostumus pdf-tiedostona); Kuvan nimi; Vapaamuotoinen, lyhyt kuvaus kuvasta sekä mahdollisista muokkauksista (max. 100 sanaa); Laboratorion nimi/paikka, jossa kuva on otettu; Kuvan ottamiseen käytetyn mikroskoopin nimi ja malli
Kuvavaatimukset: Kuvan tulee olla RGB-kuva joko TIFF-, PSD- tai PDF-muodossa; Kuva tulee ottaa ja lähettää parhaimmassa mahdollisessa kuvalaadussa; Kuvan resoluution tulee olla vähintään 300 dpi; Kuvat, jotka eivät täytä annettuja vaatimuksia, eivät osallistu kilpailuun
Sekä alkuperäiset että muokatut kuvat hyväksytään kilpailuun.
Kuva tulee ladata Suomen Solubiologien Dropbox-kansioon, johon saa latauslinkin paluuviestinä, kun hakemus on lähetetty osoitteeseen suomensolubiologit@gmail.com. Hakemukseen vaadittavat tiedot voi lähettää sähköpostina, tai sähköpostiin liitettävänä pdf-tiedostona.
Kilpailuraati arvioi kuvat visuaalisuuden ja teknisen toteutuksen perusteella.
Kilpailun voittajaa sekä muita sijoittuneita osallistujia informoidaan sähköpostin välityksellä sunnuntaihin 11. huhtikuuta 2021 mennessä.
Kilpailun voittanut mikroskooppikuva päätyy Suomen Solubiologit ry:n uusien nettisivujen banneriin. Mikroskooppikuvan ottajan nimi tulee löytymään uudistuneilta nettisivuilta. Kilpailun voittaja palkitaan vuoden ilmaisella jäsenyydellä, minkä lisäksi kuva pääsee Solubiologi-lehden kanteen.
Kilpailussa toiseksi ja kolmanneksi tullut kuva julkaistaan Solubiologi-lehdessä.
Kilpailun voittanutta, toiseksi ja kolmanneksi tullutta kuvaa sekä niiden ottajia voidaan mainostaa yhdistyksen nettisivuilla, sosiaalisen median kanavissa (Instagram, Facebook ja Twitter) sekä Solubiologi-lehdessä.
Kuvan/kuvat lähettämällä osallistuja antaa Suomen Solubiologit ry:lle oikeuden käyttää ja muokata kuvia kilpailun aikana tai sen jälkeen ilman ennakkoilmoitusta ei-kaupalliseen, yhdistyksen toimintaa edistävään tarkoitukseen tai mainontaan. Jos kuvaa käytetään, kuvan ottajan nimi mainitaan kuvan yhteydessä.
Kilpailuun osallistuja sitoutuu noudattamaan bannerikilpailun sääntöjä.
