Tunnemme huonosti tekijöitä, jotka välittävät mekaanisia viestejä molekyylitasolla. Hytösen johtama ryhmä etsii väitöskirjatutkijaa hankkeeseen, joka tähtää uusien molekylaaristen työkalujen kehittämiseen solujen mekanosignaloinnin ymmärtämiseksi. Hankkeesen palkattava tutkija kehittää proteiineihin pohjautuvia mekanosensoreita, jotka mahdollistavat solun sisäisten mekaanisten viestien mittaamisen. Tutkimuksessa hyödynnetään rakennebiologian ja biokemian menetelmiä solutason ilmiöiden tutkimiseen.
Väitöskirjatutkijan tehtävänä on suorittaa tohtorin tutkinto Tampereen yliopistossa. Tutkinnon tavoiteaika on 4 vuotta.
Edellytykset
Vahvalla hakijalla on kokemusta työskentelystä tutkimuslaboratoriossa.
Tutustuthan erikseen ohjeisiin, miten haetaan tohtorikoulutukseen.
Tarjoamme
Väitöskirjatutkijan määräaikainen tehtävä kestää noin 4 vuotta. Työ alkaa tammikuussa 2021 tai sopimuksen mukaan. Tehtävässä on 6 kk koeaika.
Tehtävän palkkaus määräytyy yliopistojen opetus- ja tutkimushenkilöstön palkkausjärjestelmän mukaisesti. Tehtävän alustava vaativuustaso on 2-4.
Hankkeessa on mahdollisuus järjestää tutkimusvierailuja kansainvälisen yhteistyöverkostomme laboratorioihin.

Tampere University and Tampere University of Applied Sciences create a unique environment for multidisciplinary, inspirational and high-impact research and education. Our universities community has its competitive edges in technology, health and society.
The Faculty of Medicine and Health Technology is seeking for Doctoral Researcher. The position is opened in the group led by Prof. Vesa Hytönen and the proposed project aims for the development of molecular tools for studying cellular mechanosignaling. The research is funded by Academy of Finland and Sigrid Jusélius Foundation.
Job description
Hytönen group is seeking for highly qualified PhD candidate for a project that aims for the development of novel molecular tools to gain insight into molecular events in cellular mechanosignaling. The candidate will develop protein-encoded mechanosensors, which enable analyzing intracellular mechanical signals. The research exploits structural biology and biochemistry to understand events taking place in cellular level.
Successful candidates will pursue a doctoral degree at Tampere University. Full-time doctoral studies are expected to be completed in four years.
Requirements
Successful candidate is expected to excel at critical thinking, be quick learner for new methods and approaches, and to have an interest towards protein structure-function. Candidates should have a MSc degree in suitable field of science (cell/molecular biology, structural biology, bioinformatics, biophysics), high motivation, and good communication and teamwork skills.
Experience in molecular biology, biochemistry and cell culturing are considered as advantage and interest towards molecular models is considered beneficial. Ideal candidate should have good bench research training. However, all applications are welcomed and multidisciplinary candidates from other research areas with genuine motivation towards biological phenomenon are considered.
Successful candidates must be pursuing or will be accepted to study towards a doctoral degree in the doctoral programme of the discipline. Please visit the admissions webpage for more information on eligibility requirements.
Weoffer
The position will be filled for a fixed-term period of maximum four (4) years. The aim is to fill the position from the beginning of 2021, but this can be negotiated. A trial period of six (6) months applies to all our new employees.
The salary of a Doctoral Researcher will be based on both the job requirements and the employee’s personal performance in accordance with the salary system of Finnish universities. According to the criteria applied to teaching and research staff, the position of a Doctoral Researcher is placed on level 2—4 of the job requirements scale.
We offer a wide range of staff benefits, such as occupational health care, flexible working hours, excellent sports facilities on campus and several restaurants and cafés on campus with staff discounts. Please read more about working at Tampere University.
