Etsimme lahjakasta tutkijatohtoria tai erikoistutkijaa yksisolugenomiikkaryhmäämme Turun Biotiedekeskukseen. Toimenkuvaan kuuluu yksisolugenomiikan tutkimuspalvelutoiminnan hallinta, sekä läheinen yhteistyö genomiikan, immunologian ja bioinformatiikan alalla työskentelevien tutkijoiden kanssa.

Yksikön tutkimuslaitteisto on kansainvälisesti kilpailukykyisellä tasolla, sisältäen muun muassa 10x Genomics Chromium ja Chromium X-laitteistot sekä automatisoidun Connect-järjestelmän. Tämä infrastruktuuri on keskeinen voimavara Turun yliopiston ja Åbo Akademin yhteiselle InFLAMES-lippulaivaohjelmalle, jonka tavoitteena on edistää huipputason immunologista tutkimusta ja tuotekehitystä. Palkka määräytyy yliopistojen työehtosopimuksen perusteella ja riippuu hakija koulutuksesta ja pätevyyksistä. Tehtävät sijoittuvat opetus- ja tutkimushenkilökuntaan. Työsuhteeseen sisältyy mm. lakisääteiset eläke- ja työttömyysvakuutusmaksut, hyvät työterveys- ja liikuntapalvelut ja lomaraha.

Palkka on tutkijatohtorille keskimäärin 3180-3500 eur/kk. Erikoistutkijan palkka on  pätevyydestä ja kokemuksesta riippuen keskimäärin 3400-4500 eur/kk.

Tehtävän aloittamisajankohta on neuvoteltavissa. Tehtävän kesto on vuoden 2023 loppuun asti, ja saattaa olla mahdollista että tehtävä jatkuu sen jälkeenkin. Tehtävässä on kuuden kuukauden koeaika.

Viran/tehtävän kuvaus

Haemme tutkijaa Puolustusvoimien sotilaslääketieteen keskukseen Helsinkiin. Tehtävä on määräaikainen 31.12.2023 saakka.

Tehtävässä toimitaan tutkijana ja hankekoordinaattorina Tansanian bioturvahankkeessa. Hankkeeseen liittyy myös terveydensuojelun tutkimus- ja kehittämistyötä. Tansanian bioturvahanke ”Strengthening Health and Biosecurity in Tanzania by Biodetection Capacity Building -Phase II, on Ulkoministeriön rahoittama.

Tehtävään liittyy matkustamista koti- ja ulkomailla (ulkomaan matkoja n. 1-2 krt/vuosi).

Palkkaukseen liittyvät tiedot

Puolustusvoimissa on käytössä tehtävän vaativuuden arviointiin perustuva palkkausjärjestelmä, jonka lisäksi maksetaan työssä menestymiseen perustuvaa henkilökohtaista palkanosaa. Aloittavan henkilön kokonaispalkka vaativuusluokassa ESJA 14-15 on koulutuksesta ja kokemuksesta riippuen 4 891,26 – 5 198,23 e/kk. Kyseessä on määräaikainen virkasuhde.

Laboratory Coordinator in Next Generation Sequencing

Description:
FIMM Tech Centre Sequencing Unit is a service laboratory providing tailored DNA and RNA analysis services for Finnish scientific community. Sequencing Unit has a long history for delivering Sanger and NGS sequencing services with state-of-the-art technologies. The unit supports research at University of Helsinki and functions as a national and international infrastructure platform for academic researchers.

We currently have an opening for a laboratory coordinator to support day-to-day operations and assay development. The primary activities of the position include, but are not limited to:
• Daily sample preparation workflows from isolated nucleic acids to next generation sequencing (NGS) libraries
• Scientific laboratory support for NGS projects
• Maintenance of laboratory and equipment
• Method and protocol development

The tasks include streamlining of internal processes such as ordering, managing inventories, experimental work and data management. The laboratory coordinator will work independently as well as closely in collaboration with researchers and staff in Sequencing unit and other units of FIMM Tech Centre.

Qualification and experience:
Candidates should have master’s degree or equivalent in biotechnology, biology, biochemistry, biomedical laboratory science, engineering, or a related discipline including proven experience at least in assay development and nucleic acid analysis techniques like DNA/RNA extraction and quality control. Previous experience on NGS will be highly valued. The successful candidate is expected to have excellent problem solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills, and is able to work systematically. In addition, the candidate should be fluent in English, have good interpersonal and communication skills as well as a service-minded attitude.

Salary & contract:
The salary will commensurate with qualifications based on the university salary system. A contract will be offered initially for two years. Extension beyond this is possible depending on the availability of funding. A six-month trial period will be applied.

Haemme Jyväskylän yliopiston Liikuntatieteelliseen tiedekuntaan

Tutkijatohtoria, Geneettinen epidemiologia: terveys- ja liikuntatieteet

kolmen vuoden määräajaksi alkaen 1.10.2021 tai mahdollisimman pian sen jälkeen.

Tutkijatohtori työskentelee Suomen Akatemian ja Juho Vainion säätiön rahoittamassa hankkeessa ”Polygeeninen riskisumma fyysisen aktivisuuden ja kardiometabolisten sairauksien kausaalisuhteissa (GenActive)”. Tutkijatohtori työskentelee Suomalaisen kaksoskohortin aineistolla, joka sisältää genomi-, DNA-metylaatio- ja geeniekspressiodataa, elämäntapaseurantoja sekä kliinisiä rekisteri- ja kuolleisuustietoja. Tutkimusta tehdään yhteistyössä Suomen molekyylilääketieteen instituutin kanssa ja tehtävään valittava tutkija pääsee työskentelemään osana monitieteistä ja kansainvälistä ryhmää. Tutkimusryhmää johtaa Akatemiatutkija Elina Sillanpää.

Työn painopisteenä on tutkia geeni-ympäristö-yhdysvaikutuksia kardiometabolisiin sairauksiin liittyen. Erityisesti selvitetään miten elintavat kuten esimerkiksi fyysinen aktiivisuus vaikuttavat geneettisen sairausriskin ilmenemiseen riippuen geneettisen riskin tasosta. Projektissa pyritään tunnistamaan sairastumista sääteleviä molekyylibiologisia mekanismeja ja reittejä. 

Tehtävän kuvaus

• Genomi-, metylaatio-, geeniekspressiodatojen yhdistäminen ja/tai genomidatan yhdistäminen kaksosmallinnukseen
• Tilastollinen mallinnus: kvantitatiivisen genetiikan mallinnusmenetelmät, polygeeniset riskisummat, rakenneyhtälömallinnus genomidatalla,
• Artikkelien kirjoittaminen geneettisen riskin, elämäntapatekijöiden ja sairauksien yhteyksistä
• Seminaareihin ja ryhmäkokouksiin osallistuminen
• Täydentävän rahoituksen hakemusten kirjoittaminen
• Muut akatemisella tutkijanuralla meritoitumiseen liittyvät tehtävät kuten ohjaus, opetus, hallinto ja yhteiskunnallinen vuorovaikutus

• Tohtorin tutkintoa tilastotieteessä, bioinformatiikassa, liikuntatieteissä, terveystieteissä, biologiassa, epidemiologiassa tai muulta soveltuvalta alalta.

• Kansainvälisiä vertaisarvioituja julkaisuja ensimmäisenä kirjoittajana

Tutkijatohtorin kelpoisuusvaatimuksista ja kielitaidosta määrätään yliopiston johtosäännössä ja kielitaito-ohjeistuksissa. Tutkijatohtoreilla tulee olla tohtorin tutkinto suoritettuna ennen tehtävässä aloittamista. Tehtävissä edellytetään hyvää englannin kielen taitoa ja eduksi katsotaan kyky antaa opetusta englannin kielellä.

Tehtävä asettuu yliopistojen palkkausjärjestelmän opetus- ja tutkimushenkilöstön tehtävien vaativuustasolle 5-6. Palkkasi on noin 3300 – 3600 euroa kuukaudessa riippuen osaamisestasi ja aiemmasta kokemuksestasi.

The Mission:

You will be a part of the Life Science Business Unit (LSBU) within Material and Structure Analysis Division (MSD) of Thermo Fisher Scientific. The LSBU provides high-value Electron Microscopy workflow solutions for high resolution biological imaging, ranging from atomic resolution imaging of protein complexes to volume acquisition of cellular compartment structures.

The Job:

You will lead and drive product marketing for Structural Physiology. This segmented aims to attract cell biologists with a portfolio ranging from Large volume analysis to the powerful context of Cryo Tomography on whole cells and tissues. You will oversee product development (PMP) execution for products in Life Sciences from a marketing perspective interacting with the Product Development Team. Furthermore, you will contribute to building and executing a strong portfolio roadmap, built on market-focused strategy, deep understanding of product life cycles, and a broad business insight.

What will you do?

• Work with other product managers and marketing managers to establish market requirement documents for structural physiology;
• Develop value proposition, messaging and go-to-market strategies that resonate with the structural physiology segment, based on deep insight in and organizing around customers’ key scientific questions. Define innovative and creative ways to approach new market segments.
• Build external networks e.g. in the context of collaborations: establish and manage technical collaborations with (KOL) customers, track milestones and report out on progress;
• Build internal networks especially with R&D, NanoPort & field applications, marketing teams;
• Drive improvement in product development processes and execution, identify and resolve roadblocks, apply PPI to monitor and continuously improve efficiency and effectiveness of strategy execution;
• Provide support to sales and business development teams, support field escalations through coordinating technical expertise, providing an effective interface with R&D and engaging in technical and scientific discussions with customers.

Who we are looking for:

The successful candidate will possess the following combination of education and experience:

• Typically, a university degree is required, and a PhD/MBA or other advanced degree is preferred, or a combination of education and experience that demonstrate the required skills;
• Typically requires at least 5 years of experience in high-tech product management environment;
• Customer oriented, with a proven ability to build consensus and get buy-in and participation from key stakeholders; strong verbal and written communication skills across all levels and an ability to communicate complex technical concepts to a variety of audiences; fluent in English;
• Proven ability to interact with cross-functional and cross-cultural teams; great team player who thrives in a matrixed organization, is flexible and deals well with dynamic requirements;
• Keen interest in commercial, marketing and business aspects;
• Ability to create a vision for a product, translate it into strategy and execute a value-driven roadmap;
• Ability to travel internationally (up to 30%), and in possession of a valid passport.

Määräaikainen laboratorioinsinöörin, bioanalyytikon tai laboratorioteknikon tehtävä Suomen Funktionaalisen Genomiikan Keskuksessa

 Suomen Funktionaalisen Genomiikan Keskus on ydinpalveluyksikkö, joka kuuluu kansalliseen Biokeskus Suomi infrastruktuuriverkostoon. Tuemme korkeatasoista tutkimusta tarjoamalla avoimen pääsyn viimeisimpiin alan huippua edustaviin teknologioihin ja palveluihin genomiikan alalla. Tällä hetkellä tärkeimmät palvelumme ovat uudensukupolven sekvensointiin perustuvat genomin, transkriptomin ja epigenomin analyysit eri menetelmillä. Palveluidemme käyttäjiä ovat akateemiset yksiköt, valtion tutkimusyksiköt, terveydenhuollon tutkimusyksiköt sekä yritykset. Genomiikan keskus sijaitsee Turun Biotiedekeskuksessa, joka on Turun yliopiston ja Åbo Akademin yhteinen erillislaitos. Toimimme läheisessä yhteistyössä useiden kansainvälisten ja kansallisten sidosryhmien kanssa.

Etsimme nyt tiimimme laboratorioinsinööriä, bioanalyytikkoa tai vastaavaa tukemaan yksikössä tarjottavia tutkimuspalveluita. Avaintehtäviin kuuluu biologisten näytteiden valmistus, laatuanalyysi ja analysointi korkean tehon menetelmillä. Tehtäviin sisältyy myös laitteiden käyttöä ja ylläpitoa sekä prosessin hallintaa yksikössä käytössä olevan laatujärjestelmän mukaisesti. Tehtävät toteutetaan läheisessä yhteistyössä ja vuorovaikutuksessa yksikön muun henkilöstön, palveluiden käyttäjien ja muiden sidosryhmien kanssa. Siksi tehtävän hoitaminen vaatii erinomaisia yhteistyötaitoja, palveluasennetta ja kommunikaatiotaitoja sekä suomeksi että englanniksi. 

Tehtävän hoitaminen edellyttää erinomaisia laboratoriotaitoja, kykyä suurta tarkkuutta ja kärsivällisyyttä vaativaan laboratoriotyöhön, joka on sidottu aikatauluihin. Ydinpalveluyksikkö tarjoaa asiantuntija tukea ja palvelua jatkuvasti kehittyvillä alan huippumenetelmillä. Siksi tehtävä vaatii myös joustavaa ja avointa asennetta sekä motivaatiota oppia jatkuvasti uutta ja kykyä sopeutua nopeisiin muutoksiin ja jatkuvasti kehittyvään tutkimusympäristöön. Tehtävä vaatii myös laatujärjestelmä osaamista, johon tarjotaan myös koulutus. Aiempi kokemus laatujärjestelmästä katsotaan hakijalle eduksi.

Hakijalla tulee olla tehtävään sopiva alan koulutus, kuten bioanalyytikon, insinöörin, kandidaatin tai maisterin tutkinto soveltuvalta alalta. Tehtävän kesto on yksi vuosi kuuden kuukauden koeajalla. Saattaa myös olla, että tehtävälle on tarvetta jatkossa. Palkka määräytyy Suomen yliopistojen työehtosopimuksen mukaisesti. Tehtävä sijoittuu muun henkilöstön henkilöstöryhmään. Riippuen koulutus- ja kokemustasosta sekä muusta osaamisesta palkka on keskimäärin 2200 – 2500 eur / kk.

We are now looking for a motivated Doctoral student in a project addressing the roles and molecular interactions of collagen XIII (ColXIII) in the neuromuscular junction (NMJ).

Description

Applications are invited for a full-time Doctoral student (max. 4 years) position, starting at the earliest on 1.10.2021 in a research project headed by Professor Taina Pihlajaniemi in the Extracellular matrix & Hypoxia Research Unit, operating at the Faculty of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine. Molecular and environmental basis for lifelong health is one of the strategic focus areas of the University.  The doctoral student is enrolled in the Health and Bioscience Doctoral Programme of the University of Oulu Graduate school, which provides support in theoretical and practical training.

We are now looking for a motivated Doctoral student in a project addressing the roles and molecular interactions of collagen XIII (ColXIII) in the neuromuscular junction (NMJ). Using murine models we have shown that ColXIII is an essential NMJ component and others have recently shown that mutations in the human gene cause congenital myasthenic syndrome type 19 (CMS19). Using mouse and cell culture models we will identify the network of molecules and the events whereby ColXIII operates in the normal NMJ and the developmental events that lead to CMS19. We will also determine the occurrence of anti-ColXIII autoimmune antibodies in patients with acquired generalized and ocular myasthenia gravis and assess their effects on the NMJ. The studies provide unique opportunities to enhance the understanding of critical motor synapse molecules and facilitate personalized therapies in genetic and acquired myasthenia. The position is fixed-term for 4 years in an Academy of Finland-funded project and it targets to completion of a Doctoral thesis and multiple publications in high-ranked international journals. Besides research, the position includes some teaching duties in an international Master’s Programme in Biochemistry.

Qualification requirements

The successful candidate for the Doctoral student position must possess a M.Sc. degree in the field of biochemistry, molecular or cell biology, medical science or related fields. We also invite applications from pre-graduate students from these fields of university studies. In this case, to be eligible for application, the candidate must demonstrate that he/she will graduate at home University not later than 31.12.2021 and also provide 1) an official statement from the home University attesting that all the courses, exams and other qualifications needed for graduation have already been obtained, 2) an official statement from the home University attesting that thesis has been submitted for evaluation and, 3) a letter of support from the candidate’s Supervisor (the minimum acceptable level for supervision is docent / assistant professor).

Prior experience in molecular biology and cell culture-based experiments is required, and proficiency in microscopy is expected. Prior experience in generating or working with experimental mouse models, and knowledge of the research field in question is considered an advantage. Good communication and teamwork skills are appreciated. Fluency in both written and spoken English is required. Most importantly, we expect the candidate to have a high motivation to conduct high-level biomedical research.

Salary

The initial salary for the new Doctoral student will be based on the demand level 2 of the national salary scale for teaching and research personnel of Finnish universities.  In addition, a salary component based on personal work performance will be paid (maximum of 50 % of the job-specific component) and upgraded based on qualification in research work and progress in PhD studies. In practice, the salary of a new doctoral student will be roughly 2300-2500 € / month before taxes. The salary will be evaluated yearly.
