We are now looking for Scientists to start up the Upstream, Downstream and Analytical activities. Your main responsibilities as a Scientist include hands-on lab work as well as documentation. Lääketehtaamme kasvu jatkuu ja olemme perustamasssa kokonaan uutta osastoa tukemaan toimintaamme. Rekrytoimme nyt Product Technology-osastolle kaikille tasoille huippuosaajia. The Melanoma Immune Oncology Research Group (MIORG) as part of the Institute of Biomedicine, University of Turku is seeking an enthusiastic and competent Postdoctoral Researcher to collaborate in a project related to melanoma immunobiology and immunotherapy, led by Dr Rogerio de Figueiredo. The project employs cutting-edge technologies and state-of-the-art approaches to immune profile metastatic melanoma bioresources from animal models and patient samples.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct scientific research related to metastatic melanoma immunotherapy, including cancer immunobiology, drug discovery using in vitro and in vivo assays biochemical and pharmacological assays, and data analysis.

Essential Qualifications

• PhD degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. cell biology, molecular biology, biomedicine, biochemistry and immunology)

Desirable Qualifications

• Animal and human work experience. License for animal work is desirable.
• Competence in tissue culture methods and experience in processing human/animal samples.
• Sufficient skills with RNA isolation, quantitative RT-PCR, protein isolation and western blot and ELISA assays.
• Good experience with tissue immunofluorescence and immunohistochemistry techniques.
• Experience in single cell staining for Flow Cytometry and CyTOF.
• Organization skills for inventory of consumables and protocols
• Experience with statistics and bioinformatics.

The successful candidate should show initiative and independence on the bench, possess good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Salary

The salary is based on the Finnish collective agreement. The position belongs to the category of teaching and research personnel. Thus the total salary is estimated to be in the range of 3180-3500 €/month. The salary will be defined based on the applicant’s competence and work experience.

We are hiring an ambitious and talented

SCIENTIFIC COORDINATOR

for a fixed term period till 31.12.2022 starting at your earliest convenience. Contract extension is possible. A trial period of six months is applied.

Scientific Coordinator will

coordinate a large and well-funded breast cancer research program, which aims to translate preclinical laboratory-based breast cancer research to new clinically viable treatment modalities for breast cancer. The program is seeking new ways to sensitize breast cancer to immune checkpoint inhibitors via synthetic lethal and immunogenic cell death concepts, which are integrated with computational predictions.

One key investigational platform in this approach is a novel method to grow 3D cultures of intact fragments of patient-derived tissue (Patient-Derived Explant Cultures/PDECs) for analysis of tumor cell and tumor infiltrated lymphocyte responses (Haikala et al., Nature Comm. 2019; PMID: 30728358, Munne et al., Nature Comm. in press; Al-Akhrass et al., Mol. Oncol. 2021, PMID: 34564954). The program is funded by significant long-term grants from the US Department of Defense Breast Cancer Research Program, Business Finland, The Jane and Aatos Erkko Foundation, EU Horizon 2020, The Juselius Foundation, The Academy of Finland, the Finnish Cancer Organizations, and others.

The Finnish Translational Breast Cancer Research Program is led by FICAN Professor Juha Klefström, with his team located in the Faculty of Medicine* at the University of Helsinki. The program closely interacts with a number of leading translational breast cancer research teams in Finland, the EU and the USA, as well as with clinical oncologists in the HUS Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Finnish National Cancer Centre (FICAN) network.

The candidate will join a translational research group (https://klefstromlab.com) that is part of the Translational Cancer Medicine Research Program of the Medical Faculty’s Research Programs Unit (RPU; link). CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:

Helsingin Biopankki on Helsingin ja Uudenmaan sairaanhoitopiirin (HUS), Helsingin yliopiston, Kymenlaakson sairaanhoito- ja sosiaalipalvelujen kuntayhtymän, Etelä-Karjalan sosiaali- ja terveyspiirin ja Päijät-Hämeen hyvinvointiyhtymän yhteinen sairaalabiopankki. Biopankin omistaja on HUS. Biopankin tehtävänä on kerätä ja säilyttää näytteitä ja niihin liittyviä tietoja sekä luovuttaa näytteitä ja tietoja tutkimus- ja tuotekehityshankkeille, joiden tavoitteena on selvittää sairauksien syitä ja edistää väestön terveyttä.

Haemme näytejalostuslaboratorioomme tutkimusapulaista, jonka työtehtäviin tulevat kuulumaan mm. veri- ja kudosnäytteiden käsittely, näytteiden poiminta, näytelogistiikka, tarviketilaukset ja näytteiden laadun seuranta. Tutkimustyömme

Laboratorio tutkii RNA-polymeraasin toiminnan mekanismeja, lääketieteellisesti tärkeiden bakteerien transkriptiojärjestelmiä ja transkription inhibiittorien vaikutusmekanismeja. Valitulla työntekijällä on mahdollisuus valita useista hankkeista, jotka vaihtelevat  in vitro -mekanistisista tutkimuksista, joissa käytetään biofysikaalisia menetelmiä, in vivo -tutkimuksiin, joissa tutkitaan geenien ilmentymistä, tehdään genomin editointia ja tutkitaan proteiini-proteiini-vuorovaikutuksia käyttämällä ”crosslink”-massaspektrometriaa. Tehtävän sisältö

Hakijalta edellytetään tohtorin tutkinto biokemian, molekyylibiologian, mikrobiologian tai muulta soveltuvalta alalta. Lisäksi hänellä tulisi olla käytännön kokemusta biokemiallisista perusanalyyseistä.

Ihannetapauksessa tutkijatohtorihakijalla tulisi olla jonkin verran kokemusta in vitro -transkriptiosta, nukleiinihappoentsyymeistä ja biofyysisestä määrityksestä (mutta tämä ei ole edellytys, koska koulutusta tullaan antamaan).

Tutkimus tehdään tiiviissä yhteistyössä rakennebiologian, synteettisen biologian ja kemian tiimien kanssa. Hakijan kyky käsitellä rakennetietoa (atomimallit, tiheyskartat) ja hyvä kemian tuntemus ovat plussaa. 

Työskentelykieli on englanti ja siksi hyvä kirjallinen ja suullinen englannin kielen taito on olennaista,  suomen kieli ei ole pakollinen vaatimus.

Valintakriteerimme perustuvat siihen, että löydämme tehtävään pätevimmän ja sopivimman henkilön. Käytännössä se tarkoittaa, että huomioon otetaan paitsi koulutus, tieteelliset julkaisut ja työkokemus, myös henkilökohtaiset ominaisuudet, kommunikaatio- ja motivaatiotekijät sekä muut tehtävän hoitamisen kannalta olennaiset tekijät.

Palkkaus

Palkka määräytyy yliopistojen työehtosopimuksen perusteella ja riippuu hakija koulutuksesta ja pätevyyksistä. Tehtävät sijoittuvat opetus- ja tutkimushenkilökuntaan. Palkka on keskimäärin 3100-3400 eur/kk.

Tehtävä on alkamassa 1.11.2021, aloittamisajankohta on neuvoteltavissa. Tehtävän kesto on 24 kuukautta, ja saattaa olla mahdollista että siihen tulee jatkoa.

Hakemuksen lähettäminen

Lähetäthän englanninkielisen hakemuksesi mahdollisimman pian, kuitenkin viimeistään 31.10.2021 yliopiston sähköisen hakujärjestelmän kautta. Linkki hakujärjestelmään löytyy yliopiston nettisivuilta https://www.utu.fi/en/university/come-work-with-us/open-vacancies 

Liitä englanninkieliseen hakemukseesi

1)      motivaatiokirje (max 1 sivu) joka keskittyy omiin vahvuuksiisi liittyen juuri meidän tutkimusaiheisiimme

2)      ansioluettelo (max 2 sivua)

3)       tutkintotodistusten kopiot, virallinen käännös englanniksi tarvitaan

4)      vähintään kolmen suosittelijan yhteystiedot (nimi, työpaikka, sähköpostiosoite)

5)       julkaisuluettelo (ilman artikkeleita tai konferenssimateriaaleja)

Haemme tuotepäällikköä Life Science -tiimiin

Immuno Diagnostic on edistyksellinen ja luotettava biolääketieteellisen tutkimuksen ja diagnostiikan sekä kuvantamisen erikoisosaaja. Edustamme toimialojemme johtavia toimittajia ja panostamme osaamiseen ja asiakaspalvelun laatuun ja nopeuteen. Nyt haemme molekyylibiologian tuotepäällikköä Life Science -tiimiimme.

Tehtäväsi on tutkimustuotteiden myynti ja markkinointi, sekä asiakassuhteiden hoitaminen ja uusasiakashankinta.

• Soveltuva alan koulutus (luonnontieteellinen korkeakoulutus)
• Laboratorioalan työkokemus katsotaan eduksi
