Job Description
Do you want to be part of building LUT University’s next research success story? We are seeking two engagement specialists who are dedicated to connecting people, enabling flagship research collaborations, and communicating research impact. As an engagement specialist, you will help our research platforms expand their research and impact – both in Finland and internationally.
We are launching four new strategic research platforms that combine cutting-edge research from multiple disciplines. You will work as an engagement specialist for one of them — either Business and Society or Digital Revolution. These platforms are strategic flagship initiatives: they generate new projects, strengthen international networks, and make our research more visible and engaging. They are more than project groups – they are meeting places where experts from different fields come together, exchange ideas, and create new knowledge.
What your work will be like
Your work will be varied. You might be organising meetings, workshops, or joint initiatives to strengthen networks and collaboration, supporting project follow-up, or developing partnerships that help the platform reach new audiences.

You are a natural networker and facilitator who brings people together and inspires them to work towards common goals. You have solid organisational abilities and experience in research coordination, collaboration projects, or science communication support.
You can translate complex ideas into clear messages and communicate confidently with different audiences.
You are proactive and service-minded, and you enjoy working with people. You are motivated by helping others succeed and by supporting high-quality research. You will work mainly in English in a highly international environment.
A relevant master’s degree is required, and a doctoral degree or experience in doctoral research is considered an advantage.
What we offer you
You will join LUT’s Post-Award Research Services, a team supporting the university’s flagship research platforms and projects in strengthening their collaboration, networks, and visibility. This position offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of research coordination, impact management, and strategic networking, – helping to make research more connected and influential.
You can be based in either Lahti or Lappeenranta, and LUT offers a modern hybrid work model that combines flexibility with regular on-site collaboration across both campuses. The position follows the university’s 36.25-hour work week for expert and support staff. The hours are flexible, supporting work–life balance.
The position is full-time. The salary is based on the university salary system’s pay scale for other expert and support staff, requirement level 10. The starting salary is approximately EUR 3,300–4,000 per month, depending on your experience and qualifications. The position starts with a six-month trial period.
If you are eager to help strengthen LUT’s research communication, collaboration, and visibility, we encourage you to apply!
Interested? Please submit your application through the link below by 26 November 2025 at 23:59 (Finnish local time, UTC +3). We will review applications on a rolling basis, and the positions will be filled once suitable candidates are found.

https://duunitori.fi/tyopaikat/tyo/senior-researcher-postdoctoral-researcher-development-of-risk-benefit-assessments-for-foodborne-exposures-svsal-19717938?utm_source=loimu&utm_medium=site
Job Description
Finnish Food Authority is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher to join the Risk Assessment Unit. The position focuses on food safety risk assessment combined with benefit assessment.
This postdoc position is part of Postdoctoral Programme for Research Institutes in Finland. The Programme is funded from the Finnish long-term research and development (R&D) plan. The Programme recruits 85 new postdoctoral researchers to 12 Finnish government research institutes between 2025 and 2028. The aim of the Programme is to strengthen R&D competence in areas important to society and business. Postdoctoral researchers will drive impactful, high-level research bridging science, industry, and administration. The Programme supports postdoctoral researcher’s networking and mobility between sectors.
Risk-benefit assessment (RBA) is crucial when decisions affecting food consumption may have simultaneous effects on microbiological and chemical hazards as well as on nutrient intake. Conducting comprehensive risk-benefit assessments requires the continuous development of assessment methods, both internationally and in situations specific to Finland. For example, the guidance document of the European Food Safety Authority on risk-benefit assessment of foods only covers chemical risk-benefit assessments. International research is progressing with many RBA applications, from which Finland can also benefit by participating in the development. The work will build on already published assessments where the Risk Assessment Unit of Finnish Food Authority has been a partner.
The postdoctoral researcher will be developing methods for comparing chemical and microbiological risks using DALY metrics and investigating other alternative metrics and approaches for comparison of different types of health effects occurring at different timescales. Inclusion of zoonotic effects can be a possible addition, depending on the field of the postdoctoral researcher’s doctoral thesis. We anticipate that the work will involve comparing and combining top-down (population attributable fraction to effects) and bottom-up (exposure and dose response) assessments in risk comparisons. The postdoctoral researcher will also be responsible for collecting data and applying methods to selected food groups, hazards, risks, and benefits.
Scientific publishing of the developed methods and the assessment results is an essential part of the duties. The postdoctoral researcher is also expected to co-operate with risk managers (i.e. the users of the project outputs) throughout the project, and to contribute to the application of further research funding.
Salary
Demand level 9 (4111.95 e/month) + up to 50% personal performance-based supplement (typically 14-20% for new employees).
