Postdoctoral Research Fellow (Bioinformatics and AI-Assisted Evidence Synthesis) – Tampere, Finland
18.8.2026Tampere University is recruiting a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in bioinformatics, AI-assisted evidence synthesis, and computational mechanistic toxicology. The position is linked to the EIRIS (Endocrine-disruption-Induced Endometriosis and Reconstruction of Integrated Signaling) project and hosted by the Mechanistic and Applied Toxicology (MAT) research group.
The role focuses on developing computational approaches to understand how environmental chemicals contribute to endocrine disruption and endometriosis. Responsibilities include building AI-assisted evidence synthesis workflows, applying natural language processing and large language models to biomedical literature, integrating transcriptomics, proteomics and other omics datasets, and developing mechanistic models for chemical safety assessment. The researcher will also contribute to adverse outcome pathway (AOP) research, scientific publications, grant applications, and co-supervision of junior researchers.
Applicants should hold a PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science, data science, systems biology, or a related field. Strong programming skills in Python and/or R, experience with omics data analysis, NLP, LLMs, text mining, and computational workflow development are required. Knowledge of toxicology is beneficial but not mandatory.
The position is full-time for two years, with the possibility of extension.
