University of Helsinki is seeking a Doctoral Researcher in Radiopharmaceutical Chemistry to join the TRIM research group at the Department of Chemistry, supervised by Associate Professor Mirkka Sarparanta.
The Research Council of Finland-funded PhD project focuses on developing alpha-emitting radioligands for treating multi-organ cancer metastases. The research involves organic synthesis, purification and characterization of radiolabeling precursors, radiolabeling synthesis development, and characterization of radiolabeled compounds. Biological evaluation will include in vitro cell models and in vivo mouse tumor models, with PET and SPECT imaging and biodistribution studies.
Applicants should hold an MSc or equivalent degree in Chemistry, Radiochemistry, Pharmacy, Biochemistry, or a related field. Previous laboratory experience, particularly in organic synthesis and compound characterization, is highly desirable. Experience with radioactive materials or research animals is advantageous.
The role requires independent research skills, strong motivation for multidisciplinary research, good English communication skills, and willingness to travel to collaborating laboratories in Sweden and Poland. The position is approximately 3.5 years, with a starting salary of €2,600–2,800/month.
