3.9.2017The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Department of Symptom Research, is accepting applications for an Assistant Professor, term tenure track, in the Laboratory of Neuroimmunology. For this position, we are searching for an outstanding basic scientist with interest in translational research. The incumbent will be responsible for establishing his/her own independent program funded by extramural grants. The successful candidate will add novel expertise to the research of the investigators of the Lab of Neuroimmunology (currently Drs C. J. Heijnen, R. Dantzer and A. Kavelaars) who focus on the mechanisms of pain, cognitive impairment, and fatigue as a result of cancer and its treatment.
This 100% research position is fully funded, with an obligation for only 40% extramural support following the third year of appointment. Qualifications:
Minimum qualifications include a doctoral degree and four years of post-doctoral training in neuroscience, immunology, and/or cell biology and/or related field. Presentation of data at national and international level. Significant record of scientific publications to support tenured faculty appointment.
Preferred qualifications include a strong commitment to collaborative and transdisciplinary research, and to mentoring trainees and junior scientists. Preference will also be given to candidates with NIH or other external funding and a highly productive record of innovative research in the areas of cellular and/or molecular neuroscience.
