The Study Director will ensure the scientific excellence of study design, execution, data analysis and reporting. The Study Director will lead execution of the projects working closely with the team. The responsibilities of this position include communication with the Clients as needed in all phases of the projects. The position require an expertise in in vivo animal models of CNS diseases, as well as capabilities to set up and develop new techniques and participate in R&D projects. The Study Director will provide scientific input and assist in preparation of marketing materials.

Qualifications

  • Higher education degree in biological science (MSc, MD), preferably PhD degree
  • At least 2 years of experience with CNS in vivo work, including independent project execution and preferably project supervision
  • Understanding of scientific studies experimental design, underlining scientific principles, and ability to analyze data and interpret results
  • Understanding/practical experience with in vivo pharmacology
  • Knowledge in CNS animal models (incl. surgery techniques) and related behavioral assays
  • Fluent English oral and written
  • Scientific writing ability
  • Good problem solving skills, ability to coordinate and prioritize
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork abilities
  • Pharmaceutical industry or academic post-doctoral experience will be an asset

Finnish Red Cross Blood Service has a strategic interest in the development of novel cell therapeutics. Presently, mesenchymal stromal cells and keratinocytes are being manufactured at the Advanced Cell Therapy Centre for treatment of patients.

We are now looking for a cell biologist/biochemist to a research project focusing on CAR T cell technology. The project may lend itself to a PhD project.

The research project is planned to encompass four years and is funded with competetive research grants. The existing funding covers the first year, and continued grants will be applied for. The desired starting date of the project is in March/April 2018.

The research project is conducted in collaboration with research groups from the University of Helsinki. Your work involves planning the research, carrying out experiments and interpreting and reporting the results. You will operate within research groups that collaborate on developing novel CAR T cell technologies.

You have a suitable university degree and strong experience of cell culture experiments. Experience of immunology and molecular biology will be helpful. The work requires a self-driven and motivated scientist with previous experience of research. Collaboration and communication skills are also important. Describe in your application the experimental techniques that you master, and how long your experience in these techniques is, as well as your motivation for academic research.

AIRC-funded Postdoctoral position in Tumor microenvironment

A postdoctoral position is available in Enza Lonardo’s lab at the Institute of
Genetics and Biophysics Adriano Buzzati-Traverso (IGB-ABT, CNR), Naples,
Italy.

The candidate will join a project focused on understanding tumor-stroma
crosstalk in pancreatic cancer.

Our primary goal is to understand the signaling pathways implicated in
epithelial stem cell fate, their alterations during cancer and metastasis, and
the interactions between tumor cells and microenvironment. We have a
multidisciplinary approach using mouse models, cell cultures, clinical tissue
samples and molecular and cell biology techniques to translate basic research
into clinically relevant results.

Requirements

We are looking for a highly motivated person that is interested in
contributing to the field of tumor microenvironment and discover
mechanisms in cancer biology that will eventually lead to new treatments.
The successful candidate must have a PhD degree and have prior experience
in molecular biology and cancer biology.

The candidate should also have outstanding interpersonal skills, a pure
interest in science and at least one publication as first author in a peerreviewed
journal. Candidates with experience in cell culture, gene
manipulation in cancer cells (CRISPR/CAS9) and mouse manipulation will be
given preference.

Disorders in immune system and lymphocyte function lead to inflammatory diseases e.g. rheumatoid arthritis and Type 1 Diabetes. Project will focus on studying the molecular mechanisms underlying immune mediated diseases aiming at enabling individualized treatment in the future.

Expert in biodata analysis (master/doctor degree in a relevant subject) with a strong ICT background.
 
The major tasks are related to the management of data of the Blood Service Biobank (blood donors) and Hematological biobank (patients with hematological malignancies), and related scientific research. Position is open immediately and can be fulfilled till the end of year 2018 (or for 12 months) and may be renewed.

The Finnish Red Cross Blood Service (FRCBS), a not-for profit organization, serves the blood product supply for entire Finland and is the sole blood bank in Finland. Our tasks include activities ranging from recruitment of blood donors, testing of donated blood, and the production and storage of blood products and selling them to hospitals. We are actively involved in cell and organ transplantation: we act as the Finnish hub for stem cell grafts and we do all clinical donor-patient compatibility tests for transplantation.  We also do scientific research within our sector, with the annual research budget of ~3 million euros. An NIH funded Assistant Scientist/Senior Postdoctoral position is available in the Department of Basic Medical Sciences at the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific (COMP), Western University of Health Sciences, Pomona, California, near Los Angeles, USA.

The research involves study of brain-gut emetic circuits. The position requires a strong background in calcium imaging, immunohistochemical and histological techniques, tissue slice preparations, confocal microscopy and molecular techniques such as Western blots and cloning as well as behavioral studies. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Neuroscience or a related area with multiple publications in calcium imaging and immunohistochemical techniques.
