12.2.2018
The Department of Anesthesiology and Washington University Pain Center seeks an Postdoctoral Research Fellow for a trained electrophysiologist with additional experience in  behavioral pharmacology and imaging to study mechanisms underlying opioid dependence.  We are interested in studying these mechanisms within the reward pathway, so previous experience studying this circuit is required. The laboratory integrates the study of the molecular changes induced by drugs of abuse using a combination of state-of-art  electrophysiological, imaging, behavioral, optogenetics and chemogenetic  analyses.

For more details see publications: Fakira et al., 2016 Neuropsychopharmacology; Hipolito et al. 2015 Journal of Neuroscience; Fakira et al., 2014 Biological Psychiatry.

Candidates must have a PhD in neuroscience, biochemistry, pharmacology or biomedical sciences. Experience with brain slice electrophysiology, behavioral pharmacology, molecular biology, in vivo imaging techniques is required. The successful candidate should be able to work independently and be willing to collaborate with the groups of Dr Rob Gereau and Michael Bruchas at the Department of Anesthesiology.
