We are looking for a Grant Writer to assist the academic research group of Professor Johanna Ivaska. This full-time role is perfect for someone who is looking to develop within scientific communications, grant writing and scientific publishing.

The task involves:

  • Editing scientific manuscripts for content, clarity and language
  • Assisting in preparing scientific posters and slide presentations
  • preparing figures and illustrations for scientific publications
  • Helping the PI and team members in grant applications

You must have:

  • Practical experience in working in life science, writing, content development, or publishing
  • Experience in using reference programs (Zotero or equivalent), drawing illustrations (Illustrator or equivalent) and working with power point
  • The ability to write clearly and concisely
  • Excellent written and spoken English, including exceptional grammar
  • An eye for detail
  • A passion for learning
  • A desire to be a strong team player

Ideally, you could also have:

  • A MSc/PhD in a science subject
  • Editing experience
  • Good knowledge of Finnish

The salary is determined by the collective agreement system of the Finnish universities. The exact salary will be defined when writing the employment contract. The salary is in accordance with the Finnish universities collective agreement system and this position belongs to level 8-9 (for other personnel). Thus the total salary is estimated to be in the range of 28003400 €/month. The position is fixed-term for 1 year with a possibility for extension, subject to a six-month trial period.

The Ivaska Cell Adhesion and Cancer group is based at Turku Bioscience Centre, University of Turku and Åbo Akademi University.
