Finnish Genome Editing Center invites applications for the position of

LABORATORY COORDINATOR

The position is immediately available and involves setting up research service actions in Finnish Genome Editing Center (FinGEEC, part of GoEditStem HiLIFE infrastructure platform and Biocenter Finland) and participation in high impact breast cancer research projects led by Dr. Topi Tervonen and Professor Juha Klefström.

In FinGEEC, your task is day-to-day operation of the core facility including service provision. The work will mainly focus on the generation of genome edited cell lines and performing genome editing analysis. Running the core facility includes communication with the customers (customer support), marketing the services and building web pages, as well as managing laboratory and finances. You will be working as a team with FinGEEC principal investigator, adjuct professor Topi Tervonen. You are also supporting tasks related to development of the HiLIFE GoEditStem infrastructure platform.

FinGEEC is integrated with and supported by professor Juha Klefström’s lab. We offer you a possibility to develop your skills in state-of-the-art functional genomics technologies in a teamwork-spirited environment of about 20 researchers, service project coordinators and research assistants. You will be involved in Klefström-lab team participating in science and common lab activities.

A successful candidate has preferably a master’s degree in molecular biology, biotechnology or equivalent. Experience in cell culture techniques and basic molecular biology is mandatory. Ideally, the candidate has also experience in BSL2 work. Excellent English communication skills are required, and good Finnish language skills are considered as an advantage. Successful implementation of your tasks will require technical prowess, good time management, and communication skills, customer service attitude and capability for teamwork with researchers coming from different backgrounds.

Laboratory Coordinator’s salary will be based on level 8 of the demands level chart for specialist and support staff in the salary system of Finnish universities. In addition, the appointee will be paid a salary component based on personal performance with the overall starting salary amounting to approximately 2800-3000 € per month, depending on the qualifications and previous relevant experience of the candidate.

The deadline for the application is March 31st 2022 but the position is filled as soon as a suitable candidate is found. Six-month-trial period will be applied; however, the project has funding until end of 2024.
