Targovax Oy is currently looking for a CMC scientist to join our Chemistry, Manufacturing and Control (CMC) team. The position is a fixed term for one year (1.1.2020 – 31.12.2020). There may be an option for continuation after the period. Targovax Oy office is based in Ruoholahti, Helsinki, and the work will demand presence in the office.
You will get varied and exciting responsibilities, as you participate in the development of a new cancer treatment in a motivating environment of an innovative and active start-up company. You will join a team of experienced and nice colleagues who will support you to succeed. The position will report to Director, CMC.
Tasks
Your main responsibility will be leading the oncolytic adenovirus drug substance downstream process (purification process based on chromatography) development and up-scaling activities at external CMO/CRO collaborators. The key tasks will include designing experiments with sound scientific rationale, interpreting the results and steering the process development to obtain the project goals.
You will also participate in other activities, such as upstream process (cell culture) development, troubleshooting and risk assessment activities, CMO sourcing and supervision, analytical development, clinical supply and regulatory writing. This part of the work will be tailored based on your experience and interests.
Qualifications:
- Scientific mindset
- PhD or Master’s degree in biochemistry, bioengineering, biology, chemistry or related scientific discipline
- Experience in chromatographic purification techniques and bioprocessing
- Fluent in English
- Good scientific writing skills
- Good team work skills
- Flexible attitude
- Willingness to work in highly regulated area
- Willingness to travel a few days per month
Additional beneficial experience, knowledge and skills:
- Fluent in Finnish
- Drug development/process development and up-scaling experience
- Experience in working with CMOs
- Knowledge of working with EU, US GXP and ICH requirements
- Experience in virology or cell biology
