Post-doctoral fellow post: Protein phosphatase PP2A in breast cancer therapy resistance
26.9.2016Post-doctoral position is available in the laboratory of Professor Jukka Westermarck at the Centre for Biotechnology, University of Turku, Turku, Finland. We are looking for highly motivated researcher with PhD degree to join our dynamic research group broadly focused on very exciting therapeutic potential of PP2A reactivation in cancer therapy (http://www.btk.fi/research/research-groups/westermarck/ ).
The project is focused on characterization of novel therapeutic opportunities emerging from our recently published and currently on-going research related to the role of PP2A in breast cancer development and drug resistance (Laine et al., unpublished, Laine et al., Cancer Disc., 2013, Niemelä et al., Oncogene, 2012, Come et al. Clin. Cancer Res., 2009). Recent very rapidly accumulating data from others and us indicate that targeting of PP2A inhibition mechanisms may open entirely new perspectives for treatment of cancer patients with otherwise dismal prognosis.
Candidate requirements:
· PhD or MD/PhD
· Highly motivated person with strong interest in translational cancer research
· Strong experience in basic and translational cancer research demonstrated by at least one first author publication in a relevant journal
· Experience using mouse tumor models is highly desirable
· Good skills in both oral and written English and in team-working are highly valued
