Postdoc position in the in Translational Research at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial diseases, University of Helsinki

We are recruiting a post doc with strong background in genetics and/or cell biology to our research team in Translational Research at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial diseases, University of Helsinki (https://www.helsinki.fi/en/researchgroups/translational-research-on-oral-and-maxillofacial-sciences/research).

You will be part of multifaceted projects aimed at understanding the genetics and epigenetics of osteosarcoma and stem cells; developing 3D models for osteosarcoma in vitro diagnostics and applications of biomaterials. Experience with RNA sequencing, bioinformatics, biomaterials or tissue engineering is an advantage. Strong motivation to learn new techniques is necessary. The successful applicant must hold a PhD and post-doctoral experience. A six-month trial period will be effective in the beginning of a contract. In addition to English language, a strong command of Finnish language both spoken and written is required. The salary will be in accordance with the University salary system.

Responsibilities include:

  • Designing and coordinating parallel research projects
  • Preparing grant applications
  • Hands-on supervision of students
  • Writing manuscripts
  • Administrative responsibilities
  • Initiating and coordinating international collaborations

The position is for one year, with the possibility for extension. This position will be filled as soon as the right person is found. Candidates for the post are required to present their scientific work, experiences and expectations from the future work during the interview. Interviews will be held both in English and in Finnish.
