Postdoctoral position at the University of Rochester, Department of Pediatrics, Allergy and Immunology, Rochester, NY
26.3.2018We are currently seeking a post-doctoral researcher. Successful candidates will have shown outstanding biomedical research accomplishment and promise, and commitment to a career in academic and translational research. We are particularly interested in candidates with graduate or post-graduate (MD or PhD) level expertise in research on mucosal immunology, human milk, adaptive immunity, food allergy or other atopic diseases, or alternatively expertise on other areas of biomedical research that will be applicable to the abovementioned areas.
Our projects focus on 1) understanding the interaction between breast immune factors (antibodies, microbiome, oligosaccharides, metabolome, proteome) and epithelial or immune cells and/or gut microbiome, 2) immunoprofiling of the early infant immune system, and 3) tolerance development and homeostasis of mucosal immune system and microbiome, utilizing experimental models of immune activation and human samples in the context of mucosal exposure and/or breast milk immune factors.
The overall goal is to uncover factors related to immune protection provided by human milk and protection from atopic diseases including food allergy with ultimate goal in prevention.Prior experience in tissue culture, flow cytometry, ELISA, Luminex, microbiome and/or gene expression analysis is preferred. Excellent communication skills and fluency in spoken and written English is required. The postdoctoral position is with the Department of Pediatrics.
