Hakijalla tulee olla tutkimuskokemusta immunologian/virologian tai metaboliatutkimuksen alalta sekä riittävää käytännön kokemusta oleellisista tutkimusmenetelmistä, tai halua ja kiinnostusta oppia. Lisäksi hakijalta edellytetään motivaatiota tohtorintutkinnon suorittamiseen, hyviä vuorovaikutustaitoja ja kykyä tuottavaan työskentelyyn kansainvälisten tutkijoiden muodostamassa tiimissä. Tehtävässä vaaditaan erinomaista englanninkielen kirjallista ja suullista taitoa.

Palkka
Tohtorikoulutettavan palkkaus määräytyy yliopistojen palkkausjärjestelmän tutkimus- ja opetushenkilöstön vaativuustasokartan tason 2-4 mukaisesti, jossa tehtäväkohtainen palkanosa on 2078,27–2591,28 euroa kuukaudessa. Lisäksi maksetaan henkilökohtaiseen suoriutumiseen perustuvaa palkanosaa, joka on 6% – 50% tehtäväkohtaisesta palkasta.
Tehtävissä on kuuden (6) kuukauden koeaika.

Palkka on tutkijatohtorille pätevyydestä ja kokemuksesta riippuen keskimäärin 3100-3900 eur/kk. Projektitutkijan palkka on väitöskirjatyön valmistumisen lähellä olevalle keskimäärin 2770-2860 eur/kk.
Tehtävän aloittamisajankohta on neuvoteltavissa. Tehtävän kesto on vuoden 2023 loppuun asti, ja saattaa olla mahdollista että tehtävä jatkuu sen jälkeenkin. Tehtävässä on kuuden kuukauden koeaika.

The Functional Cancer Genomics group led by Dr. Sakari Vanharanta at the Translational Cancer Medicine Program, Faculty of Medicine, University of Helsinki, Finland, invites applications for the position of
LABORATORY TECHNICIAN
The aim of our research is to understand how cancer mutations activate oncogenic programs and how these programs lead to cancer progression and metastasis, with the long-term goal of translating this knowledge into novel therapeutic approaches and patient benefit. We are looking for a laboratory technician to participate in our scientific efforts and to help manage the day-to-day activities of a research laboratory. The tasks will consist of laboratory management and experimental work. The responsibilities will also include supervision of other members of the team.
The Functional Cancer Genomics group consists of biomedical scientists with diverse backgrounds and expertise. We have strong international connections and work in a collaborative manner towards shared goals. After eight years at the University of Cambridge, the team is moving to Helsinki, and will be located at Biomedicum Helsinki within the Academic Medical Center Helsinki, which provides a multidisciplinary research environment for basic and translational research with state-of-the-art facilities, cutting-edge technologies and synergistic expertise of several research groups.
A successful candidate has a higher vocational diploma or a master’s degree in molecular biology, biotechnology or equivalent. Excellent skills in basic molecular biology techniques and experience in culturing cancer cell lines is mandatory. Experience with laboratory animal work is considered an advantage. An ability to work independently and with precision is essential. Successful implementation of your tasks will require technical precision, independent problem-solving ability, excellent communication and organizational skills and the capability for teamwork.
The position is available as soon as the selected candidates are available. The project allows initially a three-year fixed-term position. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience based on the University guidelines.

The University of Eastern Finland is inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher, Tissue Engineering, position on the Kuopio campus at the Department of Applied Physics. We are seeking for a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to work part-time on an Academy of Finland funded research project entitled ‘A novel infrared spectroscopic and modelling approach for online monitoring and control of cartilage tissue growth in a bioreactor’.
The project will be conducted at the Biomedical Spectroscopy Laboratory (BSL) and Biophysics of Bone and Cartilage (BBC) research groups, Department of Applied Physics, University of Eastern Finland, under the supervision of Academy Research Fellow Isaac Afara and other senior members of the research team. BSL is a highly multidisciplinary team of more than 15 researchers with background in engineering, physics and mathematics, applying biophotonics principles for tissue characterization and diagnostics. The BBC group is a global leader in the biophysics of bone and cartilage, and consists of more than 50 researchers applying experimental, computational and clinical approaches for understanding and development of innovative techniques for diagnosis of joint diseases.
The primary aim of this project is to combine cutting-edge knowledge on infrared spectroscopy with state-of-the-art paradigm in cartilage tissue engineering (functional tissue engineering) for in situ live monitoring and control of cartilage tissue engineering process. This will be achieved via a multi-disciplinary approach that combines tissue engineering, biophotonics, data science and bioprocess control, and nano-spectroscopic imaging through active national and international collaboration. The project involves active collaboration with the Academy of Finland Center of Excellence in Body-On-Chip Research (Professor Minna Kellomäki and Associate Professor Susanna Miettinen). The primary tasks of the PhD student will include, but not limited to, tissue engineering laboratory experiments involving, but not limited to, creation of cell-hydrogel scaffolds and monitoring of tissue growth using near infrared (NIR) spectroscopy during tissue engineering of articular cartilage. The Postdoctoral Researcher will also be actively involved in preparation of personal grant applications, and other tasks assigned by the supervisor.
Candidates who are currently completing or have recently completed a PhD degree are invited to apply, provided that they will have completed their degree before starting date.
The position will be filled part-time (50%) for a 2-year term from 1 April 2022 (or starting date as agreed). The position will be filled for a fixed term due to it pertaining to a specific project. A probationary period is applied to all new members of the staff.
The salary of the position is determined in accordance with the salary system of the Finnish universities. The salary comprises two components: a job requirement component and a personal performance component. In this position, the job requirement component is 3,000.49 euros/month, based on level 5 the job requirement chart for teaching and research staff. The personal performance component can be a minimum of 6 % and a maximum of 50 % of the above-mentioned sum. Depending on the personal performance component, the salary will be approximately 3,181 – 3,661 €/month at the beginning of the employment relationship.

An Early Stage Researcher position is available in the Molecular Physiology research group at the A.I. Virtanen Institute for molecular sciences, University of Eastern Finland, Kuopio, Finland. The Molecular Physiology research group has a longstanding interest in the comprehensive understanding of cell physiology and cellular dysfunction in excitable cells, including muscle and heart.
We are seeking a highly motivated Early Stage Researcher for a project in which bioengineered human iPS-cells based cardiac tissues are used to identify clinically relevant genetic, metabolic, and physiological mechanisms of human diseases.
The position requires a strong track record in working in field and laboratory environments studying biomedicine or other related topics. This includes also mastering various measurement and analysis techniques, especially those related to physiology, genetics, and biochemistry.
The position enables the researcher to take part in supervising Bachelor and Master’s students, scientific writing, grant applications, scientific collaborations and teaching in suitable areas.
The position is filled for a two-year term from 1 May 2022 (or as agreed) to 30 April 2024. Positions of Early Stage Researchers shall always be filled for a fixed term. The position will be filled for a fixed term due to it pertaining to a specific project. A probationary period is applied to all new members of the staff.

We are now looking for an experienced laboratory technician to join our R&D team.
In this position, you will play an essential role in taking part in lab research projects with a project team and contribute towards our greater goal of providing animal free egg protein ingredients to the world. Your responsibilities as Laboratory Technician:
- Laboratory project work with eukaryotic microbes
- Perform laboratory experiments supervised by scientists
- Summarize experimental data and prepare reports for the scientists
- Documenting experimental data in lab notebook
Who we are looking for:
- Laboratory technician or comparable technical degree
- Work experience in molecular biology and excellent laboratory skills
- Experience working with yeast or filamentous fungi would be beneficial
- Good scientific reporting skills
- Good written and spoken English skills

HUS Diagnostiikkakeskus on Suomen johtava kliinisten laboratorio- ja kuvantamispalvelujen tuottaja. HUS Diagnostiikkakeskuksen pääasiallinen toiminta-alue on HUS-kuntayhtymän erikoissairaanhoito ja HUSiin kuuluvien kuntien perusterveydenhuolto sekä Kymenlaakson sosiaali- ja terveyspalvelujen kuntayhtymän (Kymsote) ja Etelä-Karjalan sosiaali- ja terveyspiirin (Eksote) alueen laboratorio- ja kuvantamistoiminta. HUS Diagnostiikkakeskuksessa työskentelee noin 4000 laboratorio- ja kuvantamisalan asiantuntijaa ja toimintaa on yli 170 toimipisteessä.
HUSLAB Genetiikan laboratorio on nopeasti kasvava diagnostisia genetiikan laboratoriotutkimuksia tarjoava laboratorio. Laboratorion tutkimusvalikoima kattaa laajasti sekä perittyjen että somaattisten muutosten tutkimuksia ja toiminta on voimakkaasti siirtymässä genomin laajuisiin tutkimuksiin. Laboratoriossa voi siten saada monipuolisen ja vahvan koulutuksen ja ammattitaidon sairaalageneetikon tehtäviin.
Haettavana oleva sairaalageneetikon koulutustoimi tähtää asetuksessa (564/94) tarkoitettuun sairaalageneetikon pätevyyteen. Toimi täytetään erikoistumiskoulutuksen edellyttämäksi ajaksi. Hakemukseen tulee liittää selvitys omasta sairaalageneetikon koulutuksen vaiheesta (hyväksytyistä kliinisen ja teoreettisen koulutuksen suorituksista tai suunnitelma koulutukseen hakeutumisesta, mikäli hakija ei ole vielä koulutusohjelmassa) erillisenä liitteenä. Tehtävän hoitaminen edellyttää aloitteellista ja itsenäistä työotetta, hyvää organisointikykyä, hyviä vuorovaikutustaitoja sekä innostusta uuden oppimiseen ja kehittämiseen.

Ylempi yliopistotutkinto perinnöllisyystiede pääaineena.
Asetuksen (221/94 ) mukainen tai aikaisempi vastaava ylempi korkeakoulututkinto. The job:
As Technical Support Specialist, you will have a key role in supporting our Cascadion™ SM Clinical Analyzer and global field based specialist team. You will work with technically advanced instruments in an innovative and international working environment by providing service, training, technical expertise and troubleshooting support. You will also help resolve customer critical issues and provide customer feedback to our product development team.
This is an ideal role for either an experienced Engineer or Technical Specialist who has previously worked with Liquid Chromatography or Mass Spectrometry instruments and applications, OR a Scientist with expertise in LC-MS. If you are in the latter category, we will provide full engineering training.
While the team is primarily based at our Vantaa, Finland site, we are happy to consider to hire this role as remote (working from home), based in Europe in close proximity to a major international airport. Fairly regular international travel (up to 20% per month) may be required when safe to do so.

What will you do?
- Perform installation, repairs, preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of Cascadion™ SM Clinical Analyzers and Assays globally
- Active development and delivery of live and remote technical training programs
- Accurately document, analyze and report service activities
- Timely handling of customer feedback cases and complaint assessment
- Continuous improvement of product support documentation and contribution to product change processes
- Close collaboration with the global customer care and local research and development organizations
Who we are looking for:
- A Degree in Engineering OR in Life Sciences (PhD level preferred)
- Hands-on experience of liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry (LC-MS) instrumentation, software, and applications (critical)
- Professional experience in servicing analytical or general laboratory instruments (gained either as an Engineer or when working as a Scientist in a lab)
- Experience with development of digital training programs, including AR and VR solutions and tools
- Ability and mentality to effectively prioritize and resolve technical and analytical problems
- Proficiency in written and spoken English; proficiency in other main European languages seen as advantage
- Driving license preferred
