The Department of Biological and Environmental Science is currently seeking to recruit candidates to the positions of
3 DOCTORAL STUDENTS in BIOLOGICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE
The positions start on August 1st 2021 or as soon as possible thereafter, contract length maximum of four years.
Qualifications we are looking for
The Doctoral Programme in Biological and Environmental Science offers doctoral education in Aquatic Science, Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, Cell and Molecular Biology and Environmental Science. Doctoral Students work in the department’s research groups. You are the person we are looking for if you have a Master’s degree, or be about to obtain a Master’s degree, in a relevant discipline and have a strong interest in the offered research projects.
The duties, qualification requirements and language skills of a doctoral student are stipulated by the University of Jyväskylä Regulations and language skills guidelines. The Master’s degree must have been completed before starting the studies. A good command of English is required. Doctoral Student needs to be also enrolled in the doctoral programme which can be applied from the Faculty of Mathematics and Science after selection for the position.

The annual salary range for a Doctoral Student in the beginning will be approximately 27,500 EUR (gross income, including a holiday bonus). A trial period of six months will be used in the beginning of the employment.

The research in the Department focuses on three core areas: evolutionary biology, natural resources and environment, and biological nanoscience. The Department building, Ambiotica, is an integral part of the University of Jyväskylä’s Ylistönrinne Mathematics and Science Research Complex, which also includes the buildings of chemistry, physics and nanoscience.
