About the Role
We are looking for a Principal Application Scientist specialized in Next Generation Sequencing to join our New Technologies R&D Team at Turku. NGS is an emerging trend in the field of screening for genetic disorders and this is an opportunity to shape the way this technology will be adopted for this novel use.
You are a highly independent technical expert on NGS working in the very beginning of the new product development pipeline. Your responsibility is to bring to life a Reproductive Health -related next generation sequencing product portfolio working closely together and in active communication with our business teams.
You have good networking skills and a passion for finding and collaborating with internal and external key opinion leaders in the field to find out the true customer needs. You are not afraid of the challenge of independently generating new ideas for novel products that also make commercial sense.
You have the responsibility of reporting on your work to the R&D and Business management. Internal marketing and driving of your ideas are also essential parts of your role.
The New Technologies team you will be a part of and working with is a cross-scientific group of independent and innovative experts in their fields tasked with generating new content for our new product development pipeline. The team provides its members with an excellent environment to reflect on ideas from many different technological points of view.
Role Requirements
- At least a MSc degree, Ph.D. preferred (role-relevant natural science)
- Minimum 5 years of experience life science, genomics with hands on experience with NGS assays
- Expert-level knowledge of NGS assay development – You have not only used NGS in your work but also designed e.g. targeted sequencing panels
- Proactive, independent, collaborative, enjoys networking with new people and a good team player
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Experience within medical device / IVD industry or in a healthcare-related laboratory would be advantageous.
