We are looking for a motivated and collaborative Research Scientist to join Orion Pharma R&D, ADME-Tox team in Turku.
Description Of The Position
As a Research Scientist, you will be
- A key member of the ADME-Tox team contributing to overall team objectives, seeking the best science to support development objectives of Orion Pharma R&D.
- Responsible for setting-up in vitro toxicology screening methods and developing methods in automation.
- Supporting and taking part in culturing the mammalian cell lines and primary cells, and carrying out in vitro toxicology assays from preparation of the samples through to the sample analysis.
- Responsible for data processing, interpretation and reporting to internal stakeholders.
- Supervising the work of research associates.
- Actively interacting with the team members as well as collaborate with other teams in Orion Pharma R&D.
This position is fixed-term until November 2024, and it is based in Turku, Finland.
Description Of The Unit
ADME-Tox unit, as a part of DMPK and Safety Sciences, Orion R&D, is responsible for the early ADME and safety assessments of new drug candidates. We provide assay services and scientific expertise in in vitro ADME and toxicology for small molecule projects throughout the drug development process, supporting our therapy areas, Oncology and Pain. You will be part of multi-disciplinary team of expert in vitro scientists and experienced research associates working in two locations, Espoo and Turku.

Requirements
To succeed in this role, you possess the following:
- MSc degree in toxicology, pharmacy, biochemistry, cell biology or equivalent qualification with several years’ experience of in vitro laboratory work.
- Experience in working in pharmaceutical industry highly appreciated.
- Mastering of cell-based and molecular biology assays, and ability to translate knowledge into new validated methods.
- Knowledge and hands-on experience with flow cytometry, high content imaging, luminescence and fluorescence-based detection methods.
- Deep understanding in experiment design and ability to analyze and interpret complex data.
- Knowledge of toxicology or nonclinical safety is a benefit.
- Experience in laboratory automation is advantageous.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills in English.
- Demonstrated good team and networking skills.
- Forward thinking mindset with the ability to manage multiple tasks, and proactively identify and resolve issues.
- Motivation for learning and growing alongside colleagues.
