A post-doc position available at University of Cambridge (breast cancer research / proteomics)
21.8.2017Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research associate position in the laboratory of Dr. Walid Khaled.
The successful candidate will work on a project funded by Breast Cancer Now aimed at the identification and characterization of novel protein-protein interactions in triple negative breast cancer.
Applicants should have, or expect to obtain shortly, a PhD in the life sciences and have demonstrable experience in studying protein-protein interactions and/or a strong interest in cancer biology. The candidates will need to have strong experience in the following techniques: cell culture, molecular biology (cloning), proteomics, biochemical assays or biophysical assays. It will also be desirable if the candidate has experience in working with GEMM and NGS data analysis.
You must be a careful and methodical worker, accurate and ready to take responsibility as part of a team. You should be self-motivated and able to organise, perform and analyse experiments with minimal instruction. You will have several years of previous laboratory experience and be capable of working efficiently and productively without direct supervision. The post will require some weekend work. Careful observation and accurate computer-based record keeping and presentation are essential.
The successful candidate will join the Epithelial Tumour Biology group led by Dr Khaled, studying various aspects of triple negative breast cancer and squamous lung carcinoma. With a wide range of expertise, team members regularly collaborate amongst themselves and with scientists from other Cambridge Institutes. The successful candidate is expected to interact and work closely with other members of the team.
