A staff scientist position is available at the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), Lyon, France

13.2.2018
A staff scientist position is available at the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), Lyon, France. IARC offers unique opportunities to study the burden, causes and prevention of cancer worldwide. The institute specializes in the integration of laboratory and population-based sciences and in coordinating and conducting multi-center studies.

The staff scientist (P2 level) will be responsible for the development, design, and conduct of research projects in cancer epigenetics (please see the link for the advert in Naturejobs –www.nature.com/naturejobs/science/jobs/636461-scientist-epigenetics). The studies are aimed at testing hypothesis on the role of early molecular events (epigenetic driver genes, “epidrivers”) and deregulated pathways involved in tumour initiation and progression, which should advance our knowledge of mechanisms of cancer development. This will involve the development and application of in vitro models and state-of-the-art approaches, (epi)genome editing (such as CRISPR/Cas9 technology), genome-wide shRNA library knockdown screens, multi-parametric cell phenotyping and functional (epi)genomics. The incumbent will also be responsible for supervision of early career scientists (post-doctoral fellows and PhD students) and technical assistants.
