Exciting opportunity for a BIOINFORMATICIAN

In the groups of Anu Suomalainen Wartiovaara, (FinMIT Centre of Excellence, University of Helsinki), and Anna-Elina Lehesjoki (University of Helsinki, Folkhälsan Research Center)

Our research aims to advance systemic mechanistic understanding of progressive brain diseases and to develop novel technological and methodological approaches to improve the diagnosis, treatment and early detection of these disorders.

We search for an experienced bioinformatician, who would participate in highly motivated to participate in an early-discovery NeurOmics project, belonging to a novel pharma-academia collaborative project, and is funded by Business Finland.

A successful candidate
•holds a PhD degree and/or years of experience in bioinformatics, statistics, computer science or related fields with experience in integrative analysis of biological data
•knows R, Python, C, or Java programming languages and is familiar with Linux environment
•has experience in working with omics analysis (transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics), including data preprocessing, quality assessment, analysis and integrative analysis of large data sets.
•has ability to develop and customize the analysis tools and maintain and interpret large databases.
•holds excellent written and communication skills in English

We offer an exciting and highly dynamic international academic research environment with a pharma interphase. The salary level is competitive, and formed based on previous qualifications, experience and personal performance in the position according to University of Helsinki regulations.

A contract of initially two years will be offered with a possibility for extension. A six-month trial period will be applied. The position is available immediately.
