The new Academy of Finland’s Centre of Excellence in Body-on-Chip Research (CoEBoC) that is operated jointly by Tampere University of Technology (TUT) and the University of Tampere (UTA) started its operations at BioMediTech in January, 2018. The Centre is led by Professor Minna Kellomäki from TUT, and it also involves Jari Hyttinen and Pasi Kallio from TUT as well as Katriina Aalto-Setälä, Susanna Miettinen, and Susanna Narkilahti from UTA.
Also the MEMO consortium project aiming at the development of in vitro epilepsy model for epilepsy and funded by the Academy of Finland, started its operations at the same time. Both the new research openings are founded on the strong research cooperation done between the research groups at BioMediTech in the past ten years.
