Open position for a postdoc or project researcher in the Computational Biomedicine group at the Bioinformatics Unit, Turku Centre for Biotechnology

Come work with bioinformatics at Turku Centre for Biotechnology!
We are looking for a postdoc or project researcher as part of our multidisciplinary and international team of experts in the Computational Biomedicine group at the Bioinformatics Unit, Turku Centre for Biotechnology. There are also possibilities to work on projects suitable for a Master’s thesis.

The work involves processing and analysis of high-throughput next-generation sequencing data to answer complex biomedical questions. Specific focus areas include, for instance, epigenomics and non-coding RNA. In addition to method development, the work covers implementation and benchmarking of existing tools and workflows.
Turku Centre for Biotechnology (www.btk.fi) is a joint department of University of Turku (www.utu.fi) and Åbo Akademi University, providing high-end technologies and expertise to academic and industrial researchers and a stimulating multidisciplinary and international research environment. The Bioinformatics Unit and the Computational Biomedicine Group of Dr. Laura Elo (www.btk.fi/research/research-groups/elo) develops computational data analysis tools and mathematical models for biomedical research, with the eventual goal of improving the diagnosis, prognosis and treatment of complex diseases, such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and cancer. A specific focus is on analysing and interpreting data generated by modern high-throughput biotechnologies, such as deep sequencing and mass-spectrometry proteomics.
Suitable candidate should have knowledge of bioinformatics, statistics and R, Matlab or other mathematical/statistical software. She/he should have high level of motivation, self-initiative and independency. We appreciate good team work and communication skills in English (both oral and written). The project grant is for 1-2 years. Starting date is negotiable.
Please send your application as one PDF document to bioinformatics-coordinator@utu.fi. The application should include a motivation letter, CV, contact information for 2-3 referees, and copies of relevant degree certificates. The position is open until suitable candidate is found.
