7.1.2019The group of Henri Huttunen and Riikka-Liisa Uronen is seeking a motivated postdoctoral researcher for an Alzheimer’s disease project at the University of Helsinki Neuroscience Center,
located in Biomedicum. Our lab specializes in cellular and molecular mechanisms of Alzheimer’s disease, developing new technologies to understand these processes.
POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER
Project and responsibilities
This Academy of Finland funded project involves studying the role of ER-mitochondria contacts in Alzheimer’s disease. You will study the cell biological consequences of Alzheimer’s disease in both primary neuron cultures, as well as cultured cell lines. You will perform imaging and molecular biology analysis of the cells. You will also supervise Master’s/ PhD students, prepare and publish scientific manuscripts and write grant applications.
Qualifications
A successful candidate holds a PhD in life sciences. Experience and qualification in working with cell cultures is obligatory. In addition, experience in imaging and biochemistry are essential.
Knowledge on neuroscience and neurodegenerative diseases will be advantageous.
Salary will be based on the Universities salary scheme for teaching and research personnel.
A successful candidate is expected to start February 2019, or according to agreement.
