Open position for a Senior Researcher (Post-doctoral fellow) in Thyroid Research at the Institute of Biomedicine, University of Turku
13.8.2019A post-doctoral job is available at the Research Centre for Integrative Physiology and Pharmacology, in docent Jukka Kero´s Thyroid group at the Institute of Biomedicine, University of Turku, Finland. The Department is well equipped with facilities for modern molecular and cell biology research. The close connection with Turku Center for Disease Modeling (TCDM) offers excellent facilities and infrastructure to perform experiments with genetically modified disease models. We are looking for a highly motivated senior researcher or a postdoc with strong experience in molecular biology, genetics and experimental disease models. The group focuses on molecular mechanisms of thyroid disorders. We are studying thyroid genetics in patients with congenital or hereditary thyroid diseases via in silico, in vitro methods, or genetically modified disease models.
The research project focuses on novel gene mutations and testing their pathogenicity in vitro and in vivo. The work involves analyzing next-generation sequencing data and generation and phenotyping of new disease models. The researcher will closely work with technicians and PhD-students in the group.
There is a trial period of four months. The position is planned for 2-4 years and could start in autumn 2019 or as negotiated.
