Applications are hereby invited for the position of Assistant Professor / Associate Professor (tenure track) of Molecular Biotechnology and In Vitro Diagnostics (Medical Diagnostics) at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. We seek a talented and already merited young researcher who has shown potential in research and has strong knowledge of in vitro diagnostic assay methods and experience on translational biomarker research.
The post is placed at the Biotechnology section of the Department of Biochemistry, in which the research directed towards in vitro diagnostics and related molecular biotechnology and is both basic and applied research with main focus on fundamental research on diagnostics and biomarkers, point of care diagnostics and rapid tests, environmental and food diagnostics, molecular engineering of binder proteins, new assay technologies and luminescent reporters.
The tenure track post will be filled first as fixed-term employment periods as assistant and associate professor or as fixed-term employment as associate professor. The aim of advancing on the tenure track is the qualification into tenure of a professorship, which requires success in evaluation. The tenure track system of the University of Turku is clarified in more detail at the end of the appointment specification.
The post includes research work, teaching including supervising Master and PhD students and other activities in the academic community. The assistant professor is expected to co-operate with other research groups, to form and lead his or her own research group and to obtain external research funding at both domestic and international level.
The salary for this particular post is determined in accordance with the university salary system for teaching and research personnel (YPJ). The salary shall be determined when drawing up the employment contract.
