PhD positions in Computational Neuroscience Group at Tampere University

Tampere University (Tampereen yliopisto; https://www.tuni.fi/en) is a Finnish university that was established on January 1st, 2019, as a merger between the University of Tampere and Tampere University of Technology. The Computational Neuroscience Group (CNS Group; https://biomeditech.fi/research/computational-neuroscience-group/) is part of the interdisciplinary Faculty of Medicine and Health Technology and is positioned to bridge the gap between traditional neurobiology, computational and theoretical neuroscience, neuroinformatics and neuroengineering. The environment provides an excellent opportunity to perform multi- and interdisciplinary MSc and PhD theses in the field of life sciences, including neurosciences. The CNS Group has strong international connections and is part of the Human Brain project (https://www.humanbrainproject.eu/en/).

We are looking for PhD candidates with a strong motivation to understand the nervous system through combined experimental and computational investigation. Ideal candidates have expertise in physics, mathematics, computer science and/or biomedical-engineering and some expertise in cell biology and/or neuroscience. Proficiency in English and a team-oriented working attitude are crucial for the applicant’s success.
