14.8.2019Postdoctoral Fellow position available on a NIDA T32 training grant to pursue a collaborative study in the laboratories of Dr. Jacqueline McGinty and members of the Addiction Research Center in the Department of Neuroscience at the Medical University of South Carolina (https://education.musc.edu/MUSCApps/facultydirectory/Mcginty-Jacqueline )
The primary goal of the study is to characterize the role of pathway-specific neurons originating in the prefrontal cortex of rodents during and after drug (cocaine, heroin) self-administration using viral –mediated DREADD expression, in vivo electrophysiology, calcium imaging, and dendritic spine analyses. The next stage of research is to determine if normalizing the proteins and physiological processes affected by addictive drugs during early abstinence can prevent subsequent relapse.
