We are seeking candidates with enthusiasm and interest in pain mechanisms and behavioral and electrophysiological techniques. Our group is interested in translational research on mechanisms of inflammatory, neuropathic and osteoarthritic pain and their control by opioids and neuro-immune interactions.
For selected publications see: Nature Med 2003;8:1003-8; J Neurosci 2006;26:4350-8; J Clin Invest 2008;118:1065-73; J Clin Invest 2009;119:278-86; Pharmacol Rev 2011;63:860-81; Mol Pain 2012, 8:81; J Neurophysiol 2012, 108:2827-36; Brain Behav Immun 2016, 57:227-42; Science 2017, 355:966-9.
The postdoctoral position is part of a collaborative project investigating novel opioid formulations for the control of pain in rodent models and veterinary practice. Experience in behavioral pain testing (e.g., paw pressure, von Frey, Hargreaves tests), side-effect analysis (e.g., conditional place preference) in rodents (rats, mice), and/or electrophysiological techniques (e.g., skin-nerve preparation) is preferable. Laboratory animal science certificate (FELASA or equivalent) is required.
Applicants should hold a PhD or equivalent degree in pharmacology, biology, neuroscience or related fields. Strong research motivation, productivity, the ability to work both independently and as a team member, and proficiency in English are critical. The position is available for 2 years (with possibility of prolongation). Salary is according to E13. Please send a statement of your research interests, CV, and names of two references to:
