The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary research program to participate in internationally-recognized, NIH-funded, translational alcohol dependence neuroscience research. The postdoctoral candidate will receive the theoretical and technical training to engage in preclinical experimentation that integrates behavioral animal models (encompassing motivational, negative affective and cognitive control domains) with state-of-the-art neuroscientific techniques, from gene to behavior, to elucidate neuroadaptations in limbic and cortical systems that promote maladaptive behavioral regulation in alcohol dependence and neuropsychiatric disorders.
Highly motivated candidates with a strong work ethic and published experience using pharmacological, immunohistochemical, molecular or genetic/epigenetic approaches to understand and/or modify behavior are urged to apply.
The Laboratory of Alcoholism and Addictions Neuroscience is one of many labs comprising the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Research Program and the Translational Addiction Research Center which collectively provide a wealth of intellectual resources to support a vibrant research environment at Washington State University. The candidate must have a Ph.D. in a biological psychology- or neuroscience-related discipline and be capable of successfully working with others, supervising trainees, independently conducting experiments, analyzing data, writing manuscripts and disseminating research findings.
