We are seeking for a talented and motivated Postdoctoral Researcher in Biostatistics group in Tampere University faculty of Social sciences . You will be able to focus on your postdoctoral research full time, develop new ideas and get supervision as a part of a research team in an encouraging atmosphere and multidisciplinary Unit of Health Sciences .
Job Description
Your task will be to develop and apply statistical modelling and machine learning methods on research question in nutrition, food sustainability and different diseases. The data used for the research are modern large, high dimensional with complex structures, such as population, purchase, patient and omics data sets. The topic of the research will be defined together with the postdoctoral researcher.
The workplace is located at Kauppi Campus, Tampere University and the work is mainly done at the office.
In addition to the doctoral dissertation, the duties of a postdoctoral researcher may include participation in education or other faculty tasks that support your studies. These tasks may not exceed 5% of the total working time.
Requirements
- Doctoral degree in statistics, bioinformatics, computational biology or other field suitable for the position
- A track record of publishing high quality research
- Strong experience of the use of professional data analysis software such as R, SAS, STATA or Python
- Methodological and theoretical skills in statistics and computing
- Fluent skills in English

The postdoctoral researcher position will be filled from at the beginning of May 2023 or as mutually agreed. The position is a fixed-term period of 12 months with a possibility of extension.
A trial period applies to all our new employees.
The salary will be based on both the job demands and the employee’s personal performance in accordance with the University Salary System . According to the criteria applied to teaching and research staff, the position of is placed on the job demands levels 5-6. A typical starting salary for postdoctoral researcher is around 3500 EUR/month. In addition, employees receive performance based salary.

Etsimme lahjakasta ja motivoitunutta tutkijatohtoria Tampereen yliopiston yhteiskuntatieteellisen tiedekunnan terveystieteiden yksikköön, biostatistiikan ryhmään. Tehtävänä on kehittää ja soveltaa tilastollisen mallinnuksen ja koneoppimisen menetelmiä ravitsemukseen ja ruoankäytön kestävyyteen tai erilaisiin sairauksiin liittyvissä tutkimuskysymyksissä osana monitieteistä tutkijaryhmää. Kysymyksiin haetaan vastauksia nykyaikaisista moniulotteisista ja rakenteiltaan vaativista suurista aineistoista, kuten väestö-, osto-, potilas- ja omiikkadatoista. Tutkimusaihe valitaan yhdessä tehtävään valittavan tutkijatohtorin kanssa.
