The application deadline is 8 March 2026.

The University of Oulu, Finland invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher to advance plasmonic nanopore technologies for single-molecule sequencing using surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) as part of the EIC Pathfinder OPEN RamanProSeq project. The successful candidate will design, fabricate and characterize plasmonic nanopores on glass nanopipettes, perform ion current and Raman spectral measurements of biomolecules (DNA, peptides, proteins), and collaborate within a multidisciplinary consortium of leading European research groups.

The role involves hands-on work with nanofabrication tools and analysis, and up to 10% of time may contribute to teaching. Applicants should hold a PhD in Physics, Electronic Engineering, Materials Science, or related fields, with strong experience in micro/nanofabrication, nanoporous plasmonic materials and patch-clamp measurement techniques; SERS sensing experience is a plus. Excellent English communication skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively are required.

This is a full-time, fixed-term position (2 years) starting around May 2026, offering a competitive Finnish university salary (approx. €3600–€4000/month gross) and access to state-of-the-art facilities and international collaborations.
