Postdoctoral researcher in Molecular Systems Immunology and Computational Biomedicine Group at Turku Centre for Biotechnology
A position for a postdoctoral researcher working in Elo and Lahesmaa Laboratories is open for applications. We are looking for a highly motivated scientist in bioinformatics who is interested in Molecular Systems Immunology, T cell epigenomics and molecular mechanisms of immune mediated diseases.  Successful applicant will join our international research groups at Turku Centre for Biotechnology, BioCity Turku, Turku, Finland and will be co-supervised by Dr. Laura Elo, Research Director in Bioinformatics and Dr. Riitta Lahesmaa, Academy professor, at Turku Centre for Biotechnology, University of Turku, Finland.

Description of recruiting organization
Turku Centre for Biotechnology (www.btk.fi) is a joint department of University of Turku (www.utu.fi) and Åbo Akademi University, providing high-end technologies and expertise to academic and industrial researchers and a stimulating multidisciplinary and international research environment. Successful applicant will
The Medical Bioinformatics Centre and the Computational Biomedicine Group of Research Director Laura Elo (http://elolab.utu.fi/ ) develops computational data analysis tools and mathematical models for biomedical research, with the eventual goal of improving the diagnosis, prognosis and treatment of complex diseases, such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and cancer. A specific focus is on analysing and interpreting data generated by modern high-throughput biotechnologies, such as deep sequencing and mass-spectrometry proteomics.
Molecular Systems Immunology group (http://www.btk.fi/research/research-groups/lahesmaa/ ) aims at understanding the regulation of human immune system to predict, prevent and treat immune mediated disorders.  We study epigenetic and transcriptional regulation of T cells and molecular mechanisms of immune mediated diseases such as Type 1 Diabetes.

Description of the position to fill
The postdoctoral researcher will work on projects aiming at regulation of immune response in health and immune mediated disorders.  These include detection of biomarkers for immune mediated diseases as well as unraveling the underlying molecular mechanisms. She/he will join our multidisciplinary team with backgrounds in mathematics, statistics, computer science, bioinformatics, biology and medicine.
The work of the postdoctoral researcher involves development and application of computational and statistical methods for the analysis of high-throughput molecular data, with a focus on next generation sequencing data and their combination with other omics data.
