Postdoctoral Researcher in Stem Cell Biology and Metabolism – UNIVERSITY OF HELSINKI
20.3.2022https://www.linkedin.com/jobs/view/2971536301
Offer Description
The laboratory of Associate Professor Pekka Katajisto at the department of Cell and Molecular Biology, Karolinska Institutet, Sweden, and HiLIFE, University of Helsinki, Finland, is looking for two postdoctoral researchers in the field of Stem Cell Biology and Metabolism.
Katajisto group (www.katajisto-lab.com) is part of the Centre of Excellence in Stem Cell Metabolism, MetaStem, and studies stem cell intrinsic and extrinsic mechanisms of tissue renewal and aging. We have discovered for example how the age-induced decline in tissue regeneration can result from alterations in niche cells (Pentinmikko, Nature 2019), how the niche signals are highjacked by tumor cells (Flanagan, Nature 2021), and how asymmetric inheritance of organelles guides stem cell fate metabolically (Döhla, Nat Cell Biol 2022).
The postdoctoral projects will focus on the interplay between stem cell metabolism and niche biology. Candidates are also encouraged to start new projects and research directions. Applicants with a doctoral degree, a strong background in cell biology and an interest in cellular metabolism are encouraged to apply. Prior experience with animal work, primary stem cell systems and/or metabolism is considered a strength. Applicants must be able to work as part of a team as well as independently, have good social skills and communication skills in English.
The appointment will be for 2 years with the possibility of continuation. A trial period of 6 months will be applied. The monthly starting salary will be determined according to the salary system at the employment unit.
Only applications submitted through the official application systems will be considered.
To apply, please submit your application by 11.5.2022.
Applications should include
A motivation letter, clearly stating your interests and why you consider yourself a good candidate for the position
CV including publication list
One or more reference letters
