Applications are invited for a postdoctoral researcher to join the group of Prof Johanna Ivaska (https://ivaskalab.utu.fi/) to work on an exciting project in cancer biology. We aim to understand how the adhesion, actin cytoskeleton and oncogene signalling are coordinated within the context of pancreatic cancer tumorigenesis and subsequent metastasis. While the main component is fundamental academic research, the project is closely linked to a drug discovery project with a biotech company.
We aim to recruit an outstanding individual who has a strong collaborative nature, effective communication skills and the capacity to work independently and as part of a team. The applicant will have successfully completed a PhD in a field relevant to the molecular and cellular biology of cancer and have published at least one peer-reviewed article. Experience in cancer biology, mammalian cell culture, molecular biology and in vitro and in vivo cancer models would also be an advantage.

The salary is determined by the collective agreement system of the Finnish universities. The exact salary will be defined when writing the employment contract. The salary is in accordance with the Finnish universities collective agreement system and this position belongs to level 5 (for teaching and research personnel). Thus, the total salary is estimated to be in the range of 3145 – 3405 €/month. The position is fixed-term for 1 year with a possibility for extension, subject to a six-month trial period.
