Research Programs Unit (RPU) of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Helsinki (https://www.helsinki.fi/en/faculty-of-medicine/research-programs-unit) consolidates demonstrated research excellence, with focused research programs addressing the greatest challenges in human health. Research programs provide the critical mass to combine biomedical, translational and clinical research, forming a synergistic platform for top-class scientific and translational discoveries. The research group of Prof. Mikko Niemi at the Department of Clinical Pharmacology, is looking for a
Postdoctoral researcher
to be responsible for pharmacogenomics laboratory analyses of the IndiviStat project.
The research group of Prof. Mikko Niemi explores the effects of human
genetics on the transport and metabolism of drugs. The main focus of the
group has recently been on identifying novel genetic determinants of
drug response employing targeted massively parallel sequencing meth-ods.
Mikko Niemi’s group invites applications for a positon of Postdoctoral
researcher to work in project IndiviStat which is an ERC Consolidator
grant project aiming to individualize statin ther-apy by using a systems
pharmacology decision support algorithm.
The position is available immediately or latest at the beginning of January 2020 until July 2022, with a possibility of extension.
Requirements:
-PhD degree in genetics or related field
-Experience in genetic laboratory analyses
-Good written and oral communication skills in English
-Ability to work independently and as a part of a multidisciplinary research group
-Experience in next-generation sequencing and bioinformatics is considered to be an ad-vantage
Salary (level 5) is based on the demands level chart for teaching and research personnel in the salary system of Finnish universities. In addition, a salary component based on personal work performance will be paid. There will be a six-month trial period for the position.
