Senior Researcher in Breast Cancer Phosphoproteogenomics at the Centre for Biotechnology, University of Turku, Finland
17.1.2018Position for PhD (or soon-to-be) is available in the laboratory of Professor Jukka Westermarck at the Centre for Biotechnology, University of Turku, Finland (https://www.btk.fi/research/cancer-cell-signaling/). We are looking for a highly-motivated researcher to join our dynamic research group broadly focused on phosphoproteome signalling in human cancers.
Recent very rapidly accumulating data from others and us indicate that breast cancer progression and therapy responses are critically regulated at the phosphoproteome level, and that combination of genomic and phosphoproteome information (phosphoproteogenomics) may lead to better patient stratification strategies. The project is funded by Breast Cancer Now ([http://www.breastcancernow.org)]www.breastcancernow.org)and is focused on characterization of phosphoproteogenomics of human breast cancer cells, and on use of that information for prediction of breast cancer patient therapy responses. The project involves very close collaboration with strong bioinformatics, drug screening and breast cancer tissue explant teams with a common goal to advance the acquired information to future clinical practice.
Turku Centre for Biotechnology (TCB), University of Turku and Åbo Akademi University, is a top-quality research center harbouring several research groups with distinguished publication profile (http://www.btk.fi/). The centre harbours excellent core facilities including state-of-art proteomics facility (https://www.btk.fi/proteomics/). Furthermore, BioCity Turku umbrella organization offers very high-quality research training including e.g. frequent seminars by world recognized speakers.
Candidate requirements:
- PhD (already obtained or soon-to-be)
- At least one first author publication in a relevant journal
- Highly motivated person with strong interest in translational cancer research
- Hands-on experience in LC-MS proteomics, and especially phosphoproteomics analysis will be a clear asset
