We are now inviting applications for


a Senior Researcher (Precise Medicine approach in diabetes) position, School of medicine, Institute of clinical medicine, Kuopio Campus (The post is re-opened)
A successful applicant will have a Ph.D in genetics, clinical medicine, bioinformatics, or statistics, and prior experience in genetics, clinical or epidemiological studies. The applicant should also have good knowledge in human biology, biochemistry, or metabolism.  Based on the developments in genetics, we can now identify monogenic forms of diabetes and different subgroups of type 2 diabetes. This will open new possibilities for targeted therapies by identifying differential responses to therapies.   A person to be appointed as a senior researcher shall hold a suitable doctoral degree and have good teaching skills. Positions of senior researchers may be filled permanently or for a fixed term (UEF University Regulations, Section 31).

English may be used as the language of instruction and supervision in this position.

The position is filled for a fixed term from 1.2.2020 to 31.8.2023. The position is filled for fixed term due to defined project aims and restricted duration, as well as project funding fixed for this initiative (Profi 5, HEALTHLIFE).

The salary of the position is determined in accordance with the salary system of Finnish universities and is based on levels 6 – 7 of the job requirement level chart for teaching and research staff (€3 423,25 – 3 946,50/month). In addition to the job requirement component, the salary includes a personal performance component, which may be a maximum of 50 % of the job requirement component.
