Biopankkien Osuuskunta Suomi – FINBB on kuuden suurimman sairaanhoitopiirin, kuuden yliopiston ja Suomen valtion (THL) omistama, vuonna 2017 perustettu yritys. Tavoitteenamme
on luoda Suomeen kansainvälisesti edistyksellinen
biopankki-infrastruktuuri biolääketieteellistä tutkimustoimintaa
tehostaen ja lisäten maassamme. Olemme ensimmäisenä Euroopassa
kehittäneet yhden luukun periaatteella toimivan Fingenious®
-digitaalisen kansallisen palveluportaalin, mikä on rakennettu
palvelemaan akateemisia ja yrityksissä työskenteleviä tutkijoita
maailmanlaajuisesti.

One postdoctoral fellow
position is immediately available in the Pan laboratory in Department of
Neurology and Molecular Pharmacology Program at Memorial
Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. The research in Pan’s lab focuses
on molecular and cellular mechanisms of mu opioid actions using
state-of-the-art molecular, biochemical, chemical and pharmacological
approaches. providing the foundation of developing novel analgesic drugs
for pain treatment (see
Pharmacol Rev. 65:1257-1317, 2013; J Clin Invest. 125:2626-2630, 2015;
J Clin Invest, 127:1561-1573, 2017).
The applicant(s) will participate in one or two of the projects in the following areas:
1) Investigating the
mechanisms underlying alternative splicing of the mu opioid receptor
gene (OPRM1) and its relevance to opioid pharmacology;
2) Mapping and characterizing mu agonist-induced receptor-protein interactions that contribute to opioid actions;
3) Determining molecular mechanisms of mu opioid-induced tolerance, respiratory depression and reward; and
4) Defining molecular mechanism of the novel analgesic drugs.
The laboratory will also
provide a wealth of molecular, biochemical and pharmacological expertise
to facilitate both research and career development. Highly-motivated
candidates with experience in molecular biology
and biochemistry or behavioral pharmacology are encouraged to apply.
The positions are fully funded by the grants from NIDA. Salary will be
commensurate with qualifications, laboratory experience and

Job description
The primary responsibilities of the position include:
• Managing genomic data repositories of variant data (16S rDNA gene sequencing, metagenome sequencing and genotyping chip data)
• Pre-processing and quality control of sequencing variant and genotyping chip data
• Execution and development of bioinformatics pipelines in high performance computing environmentand data analysis
• Managing databases with questionnaire and registry data
• Support research projects by preparing and delivering datasets on time
• Evaluate new methods and solutions to manipulate sequencing data
efficiently in distributed computing environments with a focus on data
protection
• Ensure data security Qualification and experience
• Master’s degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, computer sciences, or equivalent
• Previous experience in database management or knowledge in SQL or any other relevant tools is preferred

Helsinki Institute for Information Technology HIIT,
FIMM announces the opening of the 2020 call for applications
for Doctoral Students in Molecular Medicine, Bioinformatics, and
Artificial Intelligence as
part of the FIMM-EMBL International PhD recruitment and training program.
In this program, outstanding doctoral students are recruited to
the institute-level rotation program where they will work with two to
three different research groups during a six to nine month period prior
to matching to a research group in which they remain
for their doctoral studies. The program provides an exciting
opportunity to explore different research areas and working environments
as well as to learn a variety of science and technologies, making
connections within and beyond the institute.

A
postdoctoral position is available for a recent Ph.D. graduate to join
the Contet laboratory at The Scripps Research Institute (La Jolla,
CA) and study the neurobiological mechanisms of alcohol dependence. Our
group investigates the proteins and neural circuits that are
dysregulated by chronic alcohol exposure and their contribution to
excessive drinking and other symptoms of alcohol dependence
(www.contetlab.com).
Previous experience with mouse behavior, stereotaxic surgeries,
histology and molecular biology is desirable. Programming skills
(MATLAB, R) would be advantageous. A high degree of self-motivation,
meticulousness, critical thinking, efficient communication,
and integrity are expected.
The
Contet laboratory is part of TSRI Department of Molecular Medicine,
Pearson Center for Alcoholism and Addiction Research, TSRI Alcohol
Research Center, and TSRI Neuropsychopharmacology Training Program,

Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at Virginia Commonwealth

levels who are well established scholars working in the drug abuse
field.
Candidates must have a PhD, MD/PhD or equivalent in pharmacology or a
closely-related field and at least three years of relevant postdoctoral
experience, for the assistant professor level, with increasing years of
experience expected for those wishing to be
considered at the associate professor or professor level.
Pharmacologists and other biologists with clear, established research
expertise in the area of drug abuse, utilizing classical or modern
neuroscience, molecular or behavioral techniques, are encouraged
