LABORATORY MANAGER for Klefstöm Lab
We are a vibrant research lab of about 20 researchers, including postdocs, graduate students and highly skilled research assisting personnel. Our mission is to translate high-impact laboratory discoveries for the benefit of cancer patients. We are seeking an experienced laboratory manager, available immediately, to work at the interface of the Klefström lab and several HiLIFE research services, especially the Helsinki Virus (HelVi) core.
In Klefström lab the candidate takes care of operational lab management and maintenance tasks, but may also participate research projects by assisting in experiments. In HiLIFE HelVi the candidate will manage the recombinant virus laboratory (BVC) including tasks like BSL2 viruslab maintenance, customer service, coordination activities within HiLIFE and Biocenter Finland, biosafety training and generation of lenti- and retroviral particles for in vitro and in vivo purposes.

We are looking for a lab manager with a higher vocational diploma or a master’s degree in molecular biology, biotechnology, engineering (Tech.) or equivalent. A successful candidate must have 3+ years of work experience in biomedical research, excellent communication skills in English, experience in cell culture and molecular and cell biology methods and competence for operational lab management.
Advantages for the position include: Previous knowledge or experience in recombinant viruses, communication skills in Finnish language, a license and previous experience in in vivo methods and BSL2 gene transfer methods. The position is 100% on-site.

Responsibilities
As an Application Scientists your main responsibility is to demonstrate the capabilities and benefits of Euformatics software to customers as well as provide technical support and consultation to them. From assisting in the design and implementation of customer workflows and analysis pipelines to provide training and education to customers on the use of Euformatics tools, you will be responsible for building strong relationships with existing and potential customers and channel partners around the world taking ownership of their customer journey and success with us.
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product Development, Sales, and Marketing, to drive product adoption and customer satisfaction. Staying current on industry trends and new technologies in human genetics is valued. Qualifications
You are someone who is at ease in front of customers and a pro with words. Our customers are located all around the world, and we work in English, so a good working knowledge of English is crucial and fluency in other European languages is considered valuable.
You have a strong understanding in the field of genetics and molecular biology, or can demonstrate from previous experience that you are able to learn complex and new ideas quickly and effectively to be able to discuss with customers.
You understand the value of and can demonstrate experience of building trust with key stakeholders and are able to take initiative to solve customer problems.
You ideally have a doctoral degree and experience in a customer support role, but if you can convince us that your combination of skills and experience are the right fit then we are more interested in that than a degree. The BioMediTech Unit of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Technology is looking for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow specializing in iPSC research and cardiac applications. The position will be filled for a fixed-term period of two years.
The Faculty of Medicine and Health Technology (MET) is committed to high quality research and education in the fields of biomedical engineering, biotechnology, medicine, and health technology. We conduct basic, applied, clinical, and translational research in collaboration with Tampere University Hospital (TAYS). Our existing research areas in health research include biomedical engineering fields from biomaterials and microtechnologies to health data science, cell and molecular biology, with applications in areas such as cancer, cardiovascular and celiac diseases, immunology, and ophthalmology.The Heart research group has created a large iPSC bank containing a number of lines carrying mutations for genetic cardiac diseases. The group is working with disease modelling of both genetic cardiac diseases but also diseases due to changes in the environment e.g. hypoxia and ischemia for myocardial infraction. Assays measuring the function of the differentiated cardiomyocytes are an important focus.
Job Description
We are seeking a talented and motivated postdoctoral researcher to work with iPSCs, improve cardiac differention methods for various lines, and carry on their own project either with genetic cardiac disease of ischemic condition. Interest in gene editing is encouraged. In addition, data analysis, writing publications and research reports as well as funding applications and disseminations to the wider community will be needed. Furthermore, the job includes collaboration with research colleagues and support staff, both internally and within external networks. The postdoctoral researcher should provide guidance and support to students, contribute to relevant teaching activities, and participate in scientific meetings.

The Faculty of Sport and Health Sciences is looking for a Doctoral Researcher for the Academy of Finland funded research projects on exercise and circulating signalling particles.
The position is fixed-term starting 2 October 2023, or as agreed, for maximum of four years.
Tasks and qualifications
As a doctoral researcher, your tasks include writing and reporting on your dissertation plan and research, carrying out postgraduate studies and participating in social interaction. Your work may also include other research and teaching tasks. The scope of the dissertation is equivalent to four years of full-time work.
We require a Master’s degree in cell and molecular biology, biochemistry, exercise sciences or other appropriate field, the right to study for a postgraduate degree at the University of Jyväskylä and fluent written and oral English skills. Knowledge of circulating signalling (lipoproteins such as HDL, extracellular vesicles) and exercise physiology as well as experience in cell culture will be considered as an advantage for the applicant.

The Fagerholm group at the Molecular and Integrative Bioscience (MIBS) Research programme, Faculty of Biological and Environmental Sciences, University of Helsinki is seeking to recruit a

The Fagerholm group consists of Immunologists and Biochemists working together to understand the molecular mechanisms which regulate immune cell trafficking and function in vivo . We are especially interested in the role of integrins in immune system regulation and in immune-system related diseases such as immunodeficiency and cancer. We use a wide range of techniques such as mouse models, tumor models, in vivo immune cell migration and other functional assays, flow cytometry, cell biology, imaging and next generation sequencing techniques to understand the molecular mechanisms involved in the regulation of immune cell function. We are part of the vibrant MIBS community, which investigates a variety of research questions related to molecular and mechanistic principles of life, ranging from virology and structural biology, to immunology, metabolism, stem cell biology and neurosciences.
This project will investigate the role of dendritic cell (DC)-tissue interactions and integrin-mediated mechanotransduction in regulating DC-mediated immune responses and inflammation in vivo . It will utilize sophisticated integrin mouse models, combined with multiomics approaches, to investigate the role of beta2-integrin-mediated mechanotransduction in regulating classical DC programming on the single cell level. This position requires a deep interest and/or experience in immunology, single cell sequencing approaches and multiomics, and/or bioinformatics. Especially experience in single cell sequencing approaches and analysis is seen as an advantage, and candidates with such skills are encouraged to apply.
Qualifications
Applicants should possess a PhD degree in a relevant field (or be about to graduate) and an excellent academic record. They should have a strong understanding of basic principles of in vivo immunology and/or single cell sequencing/bioinformatics, and have the ability to work productively both independently and as part of a team. The duties include a small amount of teaching and supervising students.
The salary of the successful candidate will be based on level 5 of the demands level chart for teaching and research personnel in the salary system of Finnish universities. In addition, the appointee will be paid a salary component based on personal performance. The starting salary will be ca. 3300–3700 euros/month, depending on the appointee’s qualifications and experience. A six-month trial period will be applied.

Role and salary
We are seeking for a highly motivated and talented Doctoral Researcher to work full-time on the project that focuses on the development of novel nanomaterials to deliver therapeutic agents such as mRNA as antiviral vaccines. The work is primarily done in the Pharmaceutical Physics Group (see: https://sites.uef.fi/ppg/), University of Eastern Finland. The project includes national and international collaboration.
The position will be filled for a fixed term from 1 October 2023 to 31 August 2027 (or starting date as agreed) due to it pertaining to a specific project task and own doctoral degree. A probationary period is applied to all new members of the staff. Candidates who are currently completing or have recently completed a Master’s degree or equivalent are invited to apply.
The salary of the position is determined in accordance with the salary system of the Finnish universities. The salary comprises two components: a job requirement component and a personal performance component. In this position, the job requirement level is based on levels 2–4 on the job requirement chart for teaching and research staff. The personal performance salary element is 6–50% of the job-related salary element. At the beginning of the employment, the salary of the Doctoral Researcher will be approximately €2,534–2,662 /month.

Job Description
In this Geneticist position, you will have the opportunity to work with an experienced and motivated geneticist team that places great value in high-class clinical interpretation. We have a diverse genetic testing portfolio, including over 220 panels across 14 medical specialties, whole exome sequencing, approximately 3,900 single genes, and targeted variant analysis.
Your daily work will entail analyzing the genetic data with our in-house developed interpretation tool and writing the test results into high-quality written statements. Interpretation of the data requires the use of several databases, genetic tools, and understanding of how the clinical history of the patient matches with the findings. In more challenging cases, you are supported by a group of senior staff with experience on various medical specialties and product categories.
Our global and multidisciplinary team of geneticists is a unique group of more than 50 PhD level scientists and Clinical Laboratory Geneticists. Our team members have an average of more than 13 years of previous scientific experience, several years in clinical diagnostics (per person), and altogether approximately 500 peer-reviewed scientific articles published. Thus, you will be supported by a group with extensive experience in the field.

Excellent understanding of human genetics, inheritance models and inherited human diseases, and the ability to understand medical terminology and learn clinical aspects of the diseases
Uncompromised attention to detail. In practice this means that an analytical, critical and systemic approach, as well as ability to follow rules, is needed to maintain coherent variant classifications throughout the team and the high quality of the reports.
Excellent verbal and written skills in English are a necessity
Additional Valued Assets
Knowledge of current genomic information and variant databases, in addition to experience in NGS methods
Research or clinical experience in interpreting genetic test results utilizing NGS, Sanger sequencing and other methods
