Our newly established research group has open positions for doctoral candidates who are motivated to investigate key open questions in the field of:
 
– Architecture/patterns of biological networks
– Vascular biology
– Adaptive immunology
– Heterogenous cell-cell interactions
 
We use state-of-the-art imaging methods and collaborate world leading experts to 1. characterize the architecture of the lymphatic capillary networks and the causative molecular mechanisms and 2. identify the lymphatic endothelial determinants of antigen presenting dendritic cell transmigration across the lymphatic capillary endothelium. Experience in cell culture, mouse models and/or image analyses are beneficial but not required.
 
The work is supervised by principal investigator doc. Kari Vaahtomeri. Our laboratory is located in Translational Cancer Biology Program, Research Program Units, Biomedicum Helsinki, Faculty of medicine, University of Helsinki and Wihuri research institute (https://www.helsinki.fi/en/faculty-of-medicine/research-programs-unit and http://www.wri.fi). We are looking for a PhD-student or post-doctoral fellow to join our team at Institute of Biotechnology, University of Helsinki to unravel the basic principles of cytoskeletal dynamics

The actin cytoskeleton is critical for a vast number of vital cellular processes such as morphogenesis, motility, endocytosis, cytokinesis, and mechanosensing. Abnormalities in actin-dependent processes, including cell morphogenesis, motility and cytokinesis, often occur in cancer cells. Moreover, many pathogens exploit the actin polymerization machinery of the host cell during the infection process. Thus, elucidating the mechanisms of actin dynamics will be valuable for understanding the principles of these actin-dependent pathological states. The research group of Pekka Lappalainen uses a wide array of biochemical, biophysical, cell biological, and genetic methods to reveal how structure and dynamics of the actin cytoskeleton are regulated in various cellular processes.

We are now looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic PhD-student/post-doctoral fellow to join in a project that focuses on general principles that control actin dynamics in human cells as well as in evolutionarily distant pathogenic unicellular parasites. Strong expertise in protein biochemistry or cell biology is beneficial although not necessary, and the most important quality of a successful candidate is strong interest towards carrying out research.

Tutkijatohtori (solu- ja molekyylibiologia)
Itä-Suomen yliopisto on yksi Suomen suurimmista monialaisista tiedeyliopistoista. Tarjoamme opetusta lähes sadassa pääaineessa. Opiskelijoita on noin 15 500 ja työllistämme 2 500 henkilöä. Terveystieteiden tiedekunta toimii Itä-Suomen yliopiston Kuopion kampuksella. Tutkijatohtorin (solu- ja molekyylibiologia) tehtävä, lääketieteen laitos, biolääketieteen yksikkö, Kuopion kampus

Etsimme motivoitunutta molekyylibiologian alan tutkijatohtoria dosentti Leena Latosen johtamaan uuteen tutkimusryhmään. Tutkimus on osa Suomen Akatemian rahoittamaa hanketta, jossa selvitetään androgeenireseptoriin liittyvien RNA:ta sitovien proteiinien tehtäviä epiteelisoluissa. Olemme kiinnostuneita eturauhassyövässä muuntuneiden molekyylien normaaleista tehtävistä solujen stressisäätelyssä. Tutkimuksessa käytämme moderneja solu- ja molekyylibiologian menetelmiä solukuvantamisesta uuden sukupolven sekvensointitekniikoihin. Tässä tutkimuksessa keskitytään proteiinien ja RNA-molekyylien interaktioihin sekä näiden vaikutuksiin solutasolla.

Tutkijatohtorin palvelussuhteeseen valittavan tulee olla soveltuvan tohtorin tutkinnon suorittanut. Tutkijatohtorin tehtävään otetaan aina määräajaksi (johtosääntö 31 §).

Tutkijatohtorilta edellytetään tohtorin tutkinto, joka on suoritettu enintään 5 vuotta ennen tutkijatohtorin tehtävän vastaanottamista. Aikaraja tarkoittaa tässä yhteydessä nettoaikaa, johon ei lasketa esim. äitiys- tai vanhempainlomaa tai asevelvollisuuden suorittamista.

Tehtävään valittavalta edellytetään soveltuvaa tohtorin tutkintoa (esim. molekyylibiologian, solubiologian tai vastaavalta alalta), laadukasta julkaisutuotantoa, sujuvaa englannin kielen osaamista (suullinen ja kirjallinen) ja kykyä sekä itsenäiseen ongelmanratkaisuun että ryhmässä työskentelyyn. Aiempi kokemus RNA-biologiasta, nisäkässoluviljelmistä ja/tai solukuvantamisesta katsotaan eduksi.

Tehtävä antaa myös mahdollisuuksia, yhdessä ryhmänjohtajan kanssa, mm. tohtori- ja maisteriopiskelijoiden ohjaamiseen, tieteelliseen kirjoittamiseen, rahoitushakemusten laatimiseen ja yhteistyöprojekteihin osallistumiseen. Tehtävään sisältyy myös opetustehtäviä sopivaksi katsotuista aiheista. Tutkijatohtorin tehtävässä opetus-ja tutkimuskieli voi olla englanti.

Tehtävä täytetään määräajalle 1.11.2018-31.10.2020 tai sopimuksen mukaan.  Määräaikaisuuden perusteena on määräaikainen tutkimus- ja opetustehtävä.

Tehtävän palkkaus määräytyy yliopistojen opetus- ja tutkimushenkilöstön palkkausjärjestelmän mukaisesti vaativuustasolle 5 (2 893,95 €/kk). Tehtäväkohtaisen palkanosan lisäksi maksetaan henkilökohtaiseen suoriutumiseen perustuvaa palkanosaa, joka on enintään 46,3 % tehtäväkohtaisesta palkanosasta.

Job description
The position involves interpretation and reporting of findings from our clinical molecular genetic tests, including panel-based tests, targeted family member tests and others. Qualifications
Education:
  • Clinical Laboratory Geneticist degree; or
  • Board certification in Clinical Molecular Genetics / Laboratory Genetics and Genomics; or
  • Ph.D. in Genetics.
Experience and skills:
  • Experience in interpreting and reporting genetic test results in a clinical setting utilizing NGS, Sanger sequencing and other methods is an asset, but similar research experience is valued as well.
  • Knowledge of current genomic information and variant databases is essential.
  • Experience in working under certified and accredited quality management systems is an asset.
  • Fluent skills in oral and written English are a necessity.

4 tohtorikoulutettavan tehtävää alkaen 1.1.2019 tai sopimuksen mukaan, enintään neljän vuoden määräajaksi.

Bio- ja ympäristötieteiden tohtoriohjelma järjestää tohtorikoulutusta akvaattisten tieteiden, ekologian ja evoluutiobiologian, solu- ja molekyylibiologian ja ympäristötieteen oppiaineissa. Tohtorikoulutettavat sijoittuvat bio- ja ympäristötieteiden laitoksen tutkimusryhmiin.

Tohtorikoulutettavan tehtävät painottuvat väitöskirjatutkimukseen, jatkokoulutukseen, avustaviin opetustehtäviin sekä niihin liittyviin muihin tehtäviin.

Tohtorikoulutettavan tehtävistä, kelpoisuusvaatimuksista ja kielitaidosta määrätään yliopiston johtosäännössä ja kielitaito-ohjeistuksissa. Tohtorikoulutettavalta edellytetään hyvää englannin kielen taitoa.

Tohtorikoulutettavalta edellytetään ylempi korkeakoulututkinto ja jatkotutkinnon opiskeluoikeus Jyväskylän yliopistoon. Mikäli hakijalla ei ole ennestään opiskeluoikeutta, sitä on haettava hakuajat huomioiden erillisellä hakemuksella asianomaisesta tiedekunnasta.

Tohtorikoulutettavan tehtäväkohtainen palkanosa määräytyy yliopistojen palkkausjärjestelmän opetus- ja tutkimushenkilöstön tehtävien vaativuustason 1-4 (1 826,50 €/kk – 2 500,06 €/kk) perusteella. Lisäksi maksetaan henkilökohtaiseen työstä suoriutumiseen perustuvaa palkanosaa enintään 46,3 % tehtäväkohtaisesta palkanosasta.

Tehtävää täytettäessä käytetään kuuden kuukauden koeaikaa.

AH diagnostics etsii Tuotespesialistia dynaamisen ryhmämme vahvistukseksi nykyisen spesialistin äitiysloman ajalle. Tuotespesialisti tulee vastaamaan kliinisen diagnostiikan proteiinianalytiikan, molekyylidiagnostiikan ja patologian tuotteiden myynnistä ja markkinoinnista koko Suomen alueella.

Toimenkuva

Tehtäviin kuuluu asiakassuhteiden kehittäminen ja ylläpito sekä tuotevalikoiman kehittäminen markkinapalautteen perusteella. Tehtäviin kuuluu myös tuotetuen tarjoaminen asiakkaille yhdessä pohjoismaisten applikaatiopäälliköiden ja -koordinaattorien kanssa. Tuotevalikoima kattaa kliinisen diagnostiikan proteiinianalytiikan, molekyylidiagnostiikan ja patologian tuotteet, niin perinteisiä menetelmiä kuin uusinta innovatiivisinta teknologiaa. Tehtävä mahdollistaa oman tietotaidon kehittämisen viimeisimpien teknologioiden parissa. Työ on pääasiassa kentällä tapahtuvaa asiakas kontaktointia.

Keskeisimmät tehtävät

  • Toteutat yrityksen strategiaa asiakastapaamisilla, kampanjoilla, markkinointimateriaaleilla sekä projekteilla
  • Ylläpidät ja kehität olemassa olevia asiakassuhteita
  • Luot yhteyksiä eri alojen mielipidejohtajiin
  • Koordinoit seminaareja, näyttelyitä sekä muita tapaamisia
  • Valmistelet ja jaat markkina-analyysejä sekä pitkän ajan suunnitelmia
  • Vastaat paikallisesta tuotemarkkinoinnista ja ennusteiden teosta
  • Työskentelet yhdessä pohjoismaisen tiimin kanssa kehittääksesi strategioita sekä tuotevalikoimaa

Our R&D team is looking for a research professional to Scientist or Senior Scientist position to execute gastrointestinal tract simulations and to provide expertise in the areas of gut microbiology and digestive health. Your primary duties will be

  • Planning and executing digestive health simulations and analytics in vitro, related to projects in human and animal nutrition.
  • To provide scientific expertise in the field of digestive health by for example writing scientific documentation and presenting research.
  • Provide scientific support to pre-clinical and clinical projects as necessary
  • Documentation of the experiments according to company guidelines.
  • As part of the project team, participate in analysis, presentation, and publication of the research.

Qualifications

You are qualified for the position if you have

  • PhD (or equivalent degree) or MSc (or equivalent degree) in microbiology, nutrition, or other relevant degree.
  • Experience in one or more of the following research areas digestive health, probiotics, gut microbiota, or animal/human nutrition.
  • Hands-on experience in working with intestinal simulators and anaerobic bacteria is considered valuable, but not mandatory as we will provide training.
  • Hands-on experience in in vitro work, especially on microbiological methods, for both culture-based and molecular techniques.
  • Familiarity with computers or computer automation
  • Track-record of scientific publications and experience in scientific communication is considered valuable, ideally in the context of food and health ingredients, is a considerable advantage.
  • Effective communication skills including good personal presentation, oral and written communication skills. Fluency in English is essential and Finnish is an advantage.

POST-DOCTORAL RESEARCHER (BIOINFORMATICIAN/COMPUTATIONAL BIOLOGIST)
 
for a full-time one-year position with a possible extension to three years. The full-time position can start in September 2018 or upon mutual agreement.
 
The Bioinformatician will work in close cooperation with experimental biologists on projects relating to metabolic control of cell fate in multiple stem cell systems and model organisms. The bioinformatician will analyse and integrate data generated for example by single-cell RNA sequencing, ATACseq, and metabolomic approaches. The research is conducted in collaboration with international partners (e.g. in Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm), and short research visits and training abroad is possible.
 
A suitable candidate holds a PhD in a relevant field (e.g. bioinformatics), with previous experience in analysing functional genomics data and a solid expertise on related statistics. Sufficient understanding of biology is essential in order to allow smooth cooperation with experimental biologists. Experience from groups working on cell biology, transcription and/or metabolism is considered a strength. Excellent English skills are required.
 
The salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience based on demand level 5-6 of the University salary system. A trial period of 6 months will be applied.
